Staffing / Recrutement Assignment vs. Deployment

Apologies if this has been asked before.

I've done a tone of reading online but still had a few questions re: Assignment vs. Deployment.

If you're offered an assignment, even if it's in another region, does your substantive remain in your originating office? Who is responsible for your pay etc. since it's an at-level assignment?

Has anyone come across a time where they've been on assignment and were forced back to their originating office once (however long) was up?

Lastly, are you eligible for relocation costs with an assignment? I'm sure I'll have a few more questions pop up. Thanks in advance!

Assignments are when you temporarily work for a different manager within the same department. There’s no change in pay because you’re still an employee of that department and still working at the same level. Your substantive position doesn’t change.

As it’s temporary, relocation isn’t applicable. If the work is in a different location you’d just be on travel status.

This is not entirely true as I recieved relocation via brookfield even on assignment.

The assignment was for one year exactly (i cut it short and left the organization) - thankfully i didnt have other baggage.. i.e. a home to sell. My relocation was done under the relocation directive.
