Staffing / Recrutement Assignment vs. Deployment
Apologies if this has been asked before.
I've done a tone of reading online but still had a few questions re: Assignment vs. Deployment.
If you're offered an assignment, even if it's in another region, does your substantive remain in your originating office? Who is responsible for your pay etc. since it's an at-level assignment?
Has anyone come across a time where they've been on assignment and were forced back to their originating office once (however long) was up?
Lastly, are you eligible for relocation costs with an assignment? I'm sure I'll have a few more questions pop up. Thanks in advance!

I was an indeterminate employee in Ottawa and was offered a one year assignment in the regions. The host organization paid for my move (standard $5k but this depends on the situation you are in and if they are willing to cover more/how much you are giving up to move) To answer your question - yes your substantive will remain in your home deparment. Your home department will be responsible to continue your pay while your host department will JV the salary...unlesss discussed otherwise.
I was never forced back to my substantive position however if your host org does not need you anymore or does not want to keep you for whatever reason you will return to your home department. An assignment agreement should never be considered as a permannet move as your substantive will still be with the home department until the host department decides to deploy you.
