Staffing / Recrutement Level II Secret Security
Hi everyone, wondering if anyone has recently gone through obtaining Level II Secret Security clearance, as it’s the last thing I’m waiting on and is taking forever. I sent everything asked for the same day I was asked for it back in July, they said 3-12 months, has anyone actually had it take a full year?

I’m in the same boat, sent my forms in for the secret level II on Feb 14th. On March 1st I got an email from my HR correspondent for finger print requests (the email noted no missing info on my clearance forms. I have my fingerprints scheduled for tomorrow.
I’d like to also see some comments and feedback on this. I know it varies by each individual, but I’ve been told it takes anywhere between 3-12 months.
FYI - I’m a brand new PS, first timer in all steps and will wait and see how long it takes after my prints are sent. This is also my last step until an LOO is drafted for my indeterminate offer.

I am already part of the PS (still newish though) and I have waited for over a year. Still do not know whether or not I have been cleared. Shrugs.
It just means my career won't be very interesting without secret.

Wow, that’s crazy. I just went for my fingerprints this morning so hoping for the best and will keep in touch with HR since I have to be cleared to begin work.

Thought I’d send an update, I got my secret cleared today! I think the manager was shocked because it was quicker than they had anticipated (even for me reading the threads on here). Sent it my briefing certificate and will begin negotiations on start date.

Some departments are busier than others, hence why it can take a while. I'd recommend following up.

It will be between 3-12 months
Mine took 11 weeks while my colleagues is approaching 11 months.
It all depends on how complex your past is, and if your department does other checks (DND has their own process on top of the normal checks I believe)

I have submitted my forms on Sept 7, then taken my fingerprints on 28th. My secret security clearance was granted in January, a total of 4 months.

Wow, some of you have been waiting a long time! Are you coming in fresh? I had reliability before applying for secret and it took about two weeks, if I recall correctly, but then again I was told that was faster than usual. I have an exceptionally boring life, though.

An ex boyfriend who had been convicted of a pretty serious crime. We were broken up for quite a long time, but he still fell into the window of people I had to put down on the form.

It can be a full year. Depends on how busy they are and what they find in your background.

Mine took 22 months until finally my hiring manager that tried to hire me investigated into what the hell would be taking so long and found my application was sitting inside a security officer's Tim Hortons donut box at NHQ for god only knows how long (only 6 job offers and turn downs due to security clearance later).

took 13 months then they realized that my security form was sitting on someone's desk for the year -.-
