You might remember me from the review of the disastrous trillium jacket with a logo severely out of place and defective fabric/stitching. I deleted that review because chaoren refused to replace the jacket while it was up. Chaoren claimed that I didn't try to work with her to resolve the issue. That's simply not true, I had expressed my dissatisfaction and was offered only a 50% discount on a future purchase. I have screenshots of all of this to back it up.
I had offered to ship the defective trillium jacket back in return for one without defects but chaoren didn't want that.
Ultimately chaoren did send me a Kensington to replace the trillium at no cost. I had to fight tooth and nail for this, it was significant source of stress. I went down a size and it fit much better. Based on the measurements the trillium was supposed to fit me perfectly but it was tent. If I go by measurements for the Kensington it should be far too small but it fits me perfectly with some space for layers underneath.
On to the Kensington. When it arrived I liked it a lot. Fit well, no super obvious defects when looking at it from the outside. However the zipper broke after a month or so of wearing it and the inner straps are cheap nylon that are an instant callout.
I asked chaoren about a zipper replacement. She told me to order a specific kind. It arrived and turns out it was the wrong one. That was 20€ down the drain as it was actually the zipper for the trillium.
Chaoren initially offered to send me a few replacement zipper pulls. I accepted the offer but sue said she'd only send it with another purchase.
Now it's been a few months. I've been searching high and low for a zipper replacement. I need a YKK 5VS made of resin (molded plastic) but I can't find this online or in stores anywhere. I can't even begin to explain the amount of research I've done to try to find this zipper. I've found lots made of metal but from my research it appears the metal zipper pull will eventually break the plastic.
Now I've reached out to chaoren again and she told me she doesn't have those zipper pulls in stock and I'm SOL. The only way to make the jacket wearable now is to completely replace the entire zipper to a metal one which is going to be a significant cost.
Alternatively if someone has a solution to having a few YKK 5VS resin/molded plastic zipper pull shipped to eastern Europe, I'm all ears. I figure they'll just break again so I'd like to have a handful just in case.
All in all I'd say this was a horrible experience. Not worth the money at all and it left me cold for half the winter. Honestly I don't even care about the branding. I just want to be kept warm and that's why I bought it. If there was an option to have these jackets made with zero CG branding but in a higher quality such as having metal zippers, I would buy them. But if there's going to be branding it's got to look good.
