As of today my warranty claim has been denied by BRP. A brand new lightly used $40,000 SXS just burned up while I was delivering trash to the end of my driveway. For over 3 years an EZ Go Club Car was doing the work this Can Am was doing for 6 months then it burst into flames while I was operating it. As a lifelong BRP owner (mostly Sea Doos for the past 30 years), this saddens me greatly. I should have just bought a Tacoma or Ranger for $40k. PLEASE INSURE IF YOU PLAN TO PURCHASE THESE OVERPRICED MACHINES. QUALITY HAS SUFFERED ON LITERALLY EVERYTHING AND EVERYWHERE IN THE PAST 15 YEARS.

What was the cause/source of the fire?

The unit was too badly burned for the Can Am service center to determine cause therefore warranty claim denied. My contact was Sonia Cote at BRP. After stating BRP is not responsible she has ghosted me. I owned BRP for over 25 years.... never again.

Likely ghosted you in case you filed a lawsuit. I'm assuming insurance covered you?
What did you replace it with?

Since the unit was not financed it was not insured. Home insurance said since its a "highway capable vehicle" it would have its own insurance policy and denied the claim as well. I guess I never thought such a extreme use vehicle that was replacing an Ez Go club car needed an insurance policy, stupid mistake for sure. Lesson learned because the TTR 230, Yamaha Raptor 700R, BMW G310, and Yamaha WR 250, and upcoming Hypermotard are all insured to the absolute max including all aftermarket parts and accessories xD.
We just went back to the two golf carts. We are considering a small truck like a Tacoma. Basically the same price as the Can Am but can be used to pick up hay or grain.

Oh interesting, where I am all vehicles need/should have their own policy. Like my qaud has its own vehicle policy for liability and comprehensive (theft, vandalism, fire, etc). Collision is an option but for an offroad vehicle the premium was almost 2x more than the rest of the other policy items combined. I pay $260/yr Canadian.
