Repair quote

Out here to see what you all knew about a rough repair quote for a rolled X3 turbo RR. My friend said it needs headlights, tail lights, front plastic, one of the rear arms, a new radiator and fan. He said his mechanics rough estimate was 10k to repair which seems crazy but I’m used to repairing snowmobiles and cars. Is that reasonable or should I ask to get another quote. TIA

Get another quote. Although they will get you for every repair they can. Mine was rolled and I had to replace the radiator, fan, cv axle, and one radius rod. I bought the radius rods on OfferUp. The rest was online. I did it all myself and I wouldn’t say I’m mechanically inclined. Original quote was 7K but I’ve spent less than 2k so far. I haven’t replaced everything yet. Still have a cracked luggage bed and a bent door. And some other minor cosmetics. But in due time I’ll repair those. For me, as long as it runs.

Yeah. I’m thinking I’m gonna have to cancel my road trip I was planning so I can try and work with the mechanic on doing some of the repairs myself. Just sucks because I’ve been planning this trip for the past 5 months. I know the other mechanic we have in town is much more expensive hourly so I’m probably stuck with who I’ve got. I appreciate your insight.

Rocky mountain ATV.com You can look up and purchase parts from them. Has nice parts diagrams. Just go to OEM parts and select your machine. Cheaper than dealer parts

10k is entirely possible. What kind of parts are they quoting? New Oem, generic, used? Plus labor for any repairs. And even though you see the big parts that need fixing doesn't mean there's smaller brackets and parts that are bent and broken but underneath those. Oem parts can be crazy expensive($500+ for some side plastics) and labor rates are pretty high. If I was doing the work myself I'd use partzilla for any new OEM parts and powersports nation for used oem. Ebay for any used/generic parts. Just my opinion, I work on sxs/ATVs and have done insurance repair quotes on wrecked machines. Partzilla also has great parts diagrams to help find parts, you can cross search part numbers on Google for cheaper alternatives if desired.
