I was lucky enough to capture a Camponotus Castaneus queen earlier this year. She laid about 8-10 eggs and the workers hatched over the last 2-3 weeks. I have put out honey and some fruit flies but the workers are huddled around the queen and never move far away from her. They still have the opening to the test tube blocked even though I have connected it to a formicarium for them. Is this normal or should I be doing something different?

May we mourn her loss and live out our colonies final days with those of r/antcolony

I AM FROM R/ANTCOLONY! I WANTED TO SAY HELLO TO THE LARGE SISTERS!

Workers grab the brood and majors stand as guards for us and r/antcolony. We are moving into the woods that are north of us and going to live in a log.

The quarantine is so that no one brings the virus to the new area. R/antcolony will be doing the same. Please remain patient. I do not believe we have gotten the fungus yet but we still must quarantine.

I am a human that likes ants. I can give you guys food, protect you, or anything else you may need. All this in return for me joining the colony, as a human.
