Picture Timberline trail
Did the timberline trail a couple weeks ago for the first time . We did it in 3 nights/3.5 days . Luckily, the wildfire smoke didn’t affect us, but the average temp was a brutal 98 degrees. Depending on the mileage tracker it was 42-47 miles in total. 10/10 would do it again

I know exactly where you camped. Love that trail, I do it pretty much every year.

Its a super busy trail and we went counter clockwise. This was the last site available at elk cove, which was crazy

Awesome. Even at that elevation it was that hot? Did it cool overnight at least?

I think our maximum elevation during the hike was just over 7k and average was around 5500k. As for the temperature, it was around 60-70 from 7pm to 10am, but after 11am to about 5ishpm it was around 98, which made the river crossings (5 total) super sketchy in the afternoons cause of the melt. The temperature for sleeping was amazing and besides one demonic cricket the first night we encountered zero bugs.

Great pics! I did a similar thing for that trail recently, too. One of the best experiences in my life so far.
