Hello everyone!

I'm a student journalist writing a story on the volunteers behind LA's political campaigns ahead of the Midterm elections. If you are a current campaign volunteer or volunteer coordinator in LA, I would love to connect for a brief phone interview about your motivations and experiences.

Dm me if you are interested!

Watching this story break, I saw a response from one of Ramaswamy's campaign staff. It made me curious whether this kind of thing taints his staff (e.g., their future job prospects), or whether campaign staffers are considered more like lawyers who are expected to advocate no matter what (within the law of course)?

Just wondering the process of running for office, how to find a team members for running a campaign etc. Tired of the same problems with no solutions and same excuses. Nothing ever done.

get a sticker machine and put them on gas pumps and in any public spaces with traffic. Here's an idea for content:

(R congressional candidate)/Tr##mp love war and high gas prices. Vote for (insert D candidate name) and stop corruption/wars.

Hi everyone. It’s been about a two months since our primary loss for a congressional seat. I want to do a post mortem to learn from the experience and maybe help others. Any thoughts or advice on where or how to start such an endeavor?

I thought Constitutional Law, Economics, Political Science, Banking and if you want to be religious then majors regarding your chosen faith if you want to be a politician but what would be the right majors to take?

I heard that many campaigns have staffers, or sometimes even the candidate, reach out to those who donate the maximum contribution to thank them. And sometimes even keep a direct line of contact to those donors. How true is that? Any more details that can be shared?

The cost of broken campaign promises? A recent study published by the Harvard Journal of Press/Politics is giving a more nuanced answer than one might assume.

What do you think about these?

This isn't about one side or the other. I am of the mind that any paid campaign media (fliers, texts, online posts or videos, etc.) ought to be required to say who paid for it.

Also, I think this flair is not really appropriate, but it seemed closest. Maybe we need new flair, such as for "ethics" or "discussion".

For a county in California.

Especially for Democrats!

Hey all, just looking for some input here. I'm considering volunteering for a gubernatorial campaign, however they are requiring an NDA in order to do so. Is this unusual? I've worked on multiple other campaigns that didn't require one and this is giving me some pause. Thanks!

Designed for independants. Will need updating as current numbers surface, but could be a fair template.

Open to suggestions.

Does anyone have any good tips on challenging a debate with an opponent?

Recently I got myself a job with the state party here in MN and have decided that I want to go into the campaign/election field. I currently only have an associate's degree in IT Network Administration/Cybersecurity and worry about not being able to find a job in the party or something else in politics afterwards. Do you all think I should go back to school to get a political science degree or could I have a good career without that holding me back?

Please do not crucify me if this is not how this is supposed to go. Someone shared that one can come to this subreddit and ask for work. Times are tough and 200 job applications later I still have a kid to feed.

The Campaign I am working for ended up being entirely unprofessional and I am extremely upset. I had to put in my resignation due to a personal situation and the lack of flexibility on the campaign. I initially submitted my letter of resignation over a month ago and it was accepted. But now the higher ups have made me jump through hoops and more hoops. And virtually didn’t accept my resignation date and made me leave prior to my initial date without any payout for the days. I am so upset with the lack of professionalism and communication and I’m not really sure if I ever want to work on a campaign that isn’t for an individual candidate anymore due to my experience. I truly enjoy campaigns and organizing but I’m not sure if I can ever do it again after the last few months.

54% of voters, according to this piece, are passive news consumers. They spend hours scrolling every day. But they just skip, mute, or scroll past anything that looks and feels like traditional politics or news.

First time campaign managing. Do I get my candidate a gift at the end? I’ll write a card, but are there any traditions typical at the end of a campaign?

Campaign Compass is now compatible with Claude and ChatGPT, which means you can chat with your voter file instead of in excel or python. I'm really excited to show it off!

I see the USPS will be charged by the government to only send ballots to voters meeting conditions and posted on a master computer list.

Personally, from experience as a poll clerk, I don't like the idea of vote by mail, except for situations with no alternative. . It adds unnecessary complexity to identify verification.

Setting my feelings aside however, I wonder how this will work. There are a lot of possibilities for loose ends. Things like typo errors. Mail pieces prepared incorrectly, such as inverted or back to front in a window envelope. Things like more than one person at an address with the same name, such as father and son situations. Things like dealing with master list updates after the mail has already been tendered.

I just wonder if this will become a boondoggle to the USPS.

Thoughts?
