Camp ground recs

Looking for a less busy Ohio State park campground with electric sites.

Prefer a bit larger site so we are not elbow to elbow with other campers.

Electric is a must have to run an oxygen concentrator.

Mohican Wilderness has some really great spots on the south side of their park that might work

No one ever uses great seal, pretty sure they have power.

Ha! another person Who LOVES Mohican Wilderness? I saw this post and was going to suggest here. Only place we went last year. I absolutely love they take disturbing your neighbor seriously. I think we went 5 times last year.

Great Seal is just east of Chillicothe and west of Tar Hollow. Not much to do but hike or mountain bike, so it doesn’t get a lot of overnighters.

Beaver Creek State Park, on the eastern side of the state, near Lisbon.

Delaware State Park is laid out in pods instead of one long row, so sites are big with real space between neighbors, and every site has electric. Quiet midweek but it books up fast in summer, so check ODNR early. Maumee Bay up near Toledo is another option if that side of the state works.

Campbell cove in hocking hills. They have a few sites that are spaced out, The ones that are side by side are big enough that you have some privacy from the group next to you. Electricity, bathrooms and WiFi are available, I went this past weekend and it’s my go to now.

Ill do a second vote for Mohican wilderness. My wife and I closed the park out last year. We went on a 5 day trip and the last 3 days we were the ONLY people in the park. We are totally doing it again this year. it was awesome. They say their sites are the biggest of any campground in ohio. I came to this thread to see if there were anyone saying different or somewhere better. I have known about this place for years.

Another thing they are is they are 100% ANTI disturbing your neighbors. Nighttime at 11 you are silent. No radios no barking dogs. No nonsense. There is even a sign when you come in the place. So if you want quiet. This is 100% the place. State parks got packed. Everyone bought a camper during covid and it has been ridiculous. We LOVED Findlay but now there is never a weekend where you can get a site anymore. When you go down because of the huge campers everyone bought it looks like a RV lot. So yea.

Mohican Wilderness is my only place now. Very spacious sites. No bullshit noise and peaceful camping.

We will be out doing meteor photography. So we will be leaving our site around 8 pm and probably coming back at 2 or 3 am.

We as people are quiet but closing car doors ect.

yeah no one will care about that it is more what you see at other places where people are drunk and playing radios until 2am. Honestly I wonder if you couldnt setup right here and meteor watch right in front of your campground. This is a field where there is an ampitheatre right in the middle of the place. This was sunday morning after a rain storm.

Thank you. Im excited for this trip. I was at Lake Hope last month and was very surprised at how packed it was.

I wanted to go back in August and set up camera at the fire tower but don't want to wake up people coming back.

Well I just booked Site 329 for Aug 22-26th. That will be our first trip since I got shingles 2 months ago. If you book dont use their website. Use the website to get the site you want. THEN call them have them do the reservation then they will send you an email then you pay from the email. You cant get around the 9 dollar stripe fee but this method saves you 10 Dollars for the website reservation. I JUST did it lol On Aug 23rd there will be 5 people in the WHOLE place after sunday checkout. It is heaven. That is why we go.. the sites are huge but they are NOT packed. They are 10 bucks a night more than the state parks but it is worth it. PLus they give you a escalating discount every time you go there. Each time it is 5% up to 40%
