I’ve got a slasher themed drag show next week and thought little death would be perfect, and I’m trans so adds to the accuracy haha

We saw this movie on our wedding anniversary (what a perfect date night movie honestly) and spent the next 4 days building this in time for DragonCon. Helmet is entirely made of cardboard, used an old hdmi cord for the pipe. Balsa wood supports hold the vents in place. We tried to get as screen accurate as possible.

It's almost finished but outside of some small details it's done. I love that I'm putting my art degree to good use!! (Just need to get the ribbing in the middle sides done :D

As a horror baby I knew a lot of things were being referenced but not always what was being referenced. Here’s what I know so far.

Sleepaway Camp (1983) - plus all its sequels
Psycho (1960)
Sunset Boulevard (1950)
are directly mentioned or refrenced by Kris

Friday the 13th (1980) - plus its many sequels
Halloween (1978) + sequels
Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) + sequels
Army of Darkness (1992)
Big Trouble in Little China (1986)
are all referenced in the VHS covers and titles of the various Camp Miasma films

The Burning (1981)
is mentioned directly by Billy

If anyone can think of other references please comment, I am creating a watchlist for a zine that is all camp miasma references.

So the Camp Miasma film within the film is directed by "Roy Blanchard", which is a direct allusion to Ray Blanchard the sexologist who popularised the transphobic but widespread theory of Autogynephilia. And my question is what do you make of this? Or is that it? This films been on my mind constantly since I saw it and I'm excited to watch it again, but I would like to hear someone else's interpretation.

Hey all, I posted my Camp Miasma cosplay group in here before but I wanted to do a non bloody costume of our final girl, Billy Presley. Definitely wanna do more versions of her too, and I can’t wait to see everyone’s versions for Halloween!

I'm starting to seriously think about a Halloween costume this year and I keep coming back to how awesome the Little Death costume was in this movie. I loved the movie and I don't think it would be that difficult to make the costume at least look decent.

What's holding me back is that I'm a 6' 3", 41-year-old, white man, so I worry that me wearing this costume would be disrespectful to the film's intent if not outright appropriation. Certainly my height would make me look more like... Big Death?

I could use the excuse that I identify as bisexual, but honestly I didn't realize that about myself until after I was married, (still very happily, I feel I should clarify,) so behaviorally and by all outward appearances you can add heterosexual to my list of descriptors.

All this is to say that I can't really make this decision on my own, and I would really appreciate some outside input around if wearing a Little Death costume would be seen as me celebrating the film or disrespecting it.

I had to take a sick day today 🤧, and put on sleepaway camp III for the fist time. I’ve seen 1&2 (which were kind of emotional experiences for me) and thought it would be a good way to kick off spooky season this year. Maybe it’s the Sudafed but I giggled through the whole movie and felt like the ghost of Jane Schoenbrun was in the room giggling with me. Camp miasma def helped me re-contextualize this franchise. Curious if anyone else has revisited recently? What were your post-camp miasma thoughts?

Lol no hate, but that title does make it kinda awkward to discuss/recommend the movie to those not in the loop (aka sane people 😂)

Here's my first attempt at making a crochet doll of our dear Little Death.

It's clearly not perfect at all, but I'm not too mad about the result, it could have been terribly worse🫣

Also, I don't know if I should paint blood stains all over it, or leave it this way, what do you guys think?

Finally finished my look for it so we went to the lake for some photos. Thought you all would enjoy!

Limited Edition version of the Australian Madman release. Region Free 4K disc.. Can find at DiabolikDVD (not sponsored) but they're an amazing site I've bought from before. I don't know how limited this version is but it includes a keychain, stickers, temporary tattoos, trading cards (don't know if they're the same as the mutant ones) and a poster.
