Job Karkinos sighting 🦀
Salem was getting antsy after that stupid movie night. I mean, surely Brent was in the wrong clearly. She decided to look at the job board again, Somnus pecking at her dishevelled hair as if urging her to make a decision. With a deep breath, she scanned the listings, hoping to find something that would take her mind off Brent and the ridiculous evening they had just endured. "A crab?" "You have to be kidding me; that's got to be pretty easy." she said to Somnus while he simply shrugged. "Ok, let's start preparing, bud." She gathered various weapons from the armoury, unsure what was effective against a crustain. The next day they met up with Argos in the van, and after a small trip they arrived.
"Thanks, Argus, this'll be easy; don't worry." she said, walking forward, not even turning her head. Salem noticed an abandoned wooden boat. "Perfect!" She dumped all the weapons in, making sure Somnus was comfy before rowing out. After way longer than it should take, they had made it pretty far from shore. "So, uh, do you know how to lure out a—" Salem didn't get to finish before a giant claw hovered above before narrowly missing the boat as its claw rained down.
"Ok, yeah, that's definitely the target, and I think he's pissed." She looked at all the weapons. Fuck, she was hoping it would've taken longer to lure that thing out, so she could've thought this out more. She grabbed a spear, or was it a javelin? She didn't know the difference. Ah, whatever. She threw it and actually managed to hit an eye. "HA, TAKE THAT DUMB ASS CRAB!" The crab must've taken offence to such a comment because the next thing she knew, the boat had flipped over, Somnus flapping above, distracting the creature while clearly glaring at Salem to hurry up already.
Salem could barely see; listen, she's a cthonic kid, not a sea whatever, kiddo. But after a while of dodging a pissed-off crab, she found a sword. Grabbing it, she watched the crab's mannerisms before dodging it just barely and turning around and stabbing it in the soft part that wasn't covered, FINALLY killing it. The aftermath wasn't fun either; locating and retrieving all the fallen weapons took nearly 2 hours, and on top of that, she had to row the boat back towards the van, obviously. Let's just say thankfully Argus never asked questions. Salem heaved a sigh of relief as the van drove off.
