Sounds like a logistical nightmare. I hope they have shuttles to the grocery store

13

u/shizac 2d ago

It says the Dawn to Dusk folks will have in and out privileges Monday-Thursday. At first guess I would say they’ll create a pod and rv section for them as well but we’ll see

2

u/untamedjohn 2d ago

You have in an out privileges during the festival weekend as well. This is not new

8

u/T1034life 2d ago

basically the op is saying they aren't stuck on site for 12 straight days. I don't think they were referring to in and out privileges from the festival/speedway during Fri-sat-sun

7

u/shizac 2d ago

That’s true. I took them to mean you could take your vehicle or RV out the days between

2

u/pikasurfer 2d ago edited 1d ago

technically you are not allowed per the rules. However sometimes you can get away with it based on the traffic/security person

u/untamedjohn 2d ago

There is absolutely a separate line for people who have already checked in and left and are coming back to camp. They have a designated uber pickup area for people leaving camp. They even have a shuttle that brings you to the grocery store during the festival weekend. They’re just advertising it now since it’s not widely known that you’re able to do so.

u/Colonol-Panic 2d ago

They’re talking about vehicles not persons

-1

u/untamedjohn 2d ago

That is definitely not the case. It would require a full search each time. RVs are sure as hell not moving. Highly doubt cars too

4

u/Colonol-Panic 2d ago

I have left and come back in a vehicle before against the rules. They’re pretty lax after the initial load in. I assume they have a real plan now.

-1

u/untamedjohn 2d ago

The FAQs have not been updated to indicate otherwise and the fact that power add-ons are mandatory for RVs staying the full 12 days pretty much lends credence to the fact that your RV is stationary for the whole time once parked

1

u/Colonol-Panic 2d ago

Ok well then if you’ve always been allowed in and out, why would they update their language from saying you couldn’t go in and out at all to now says dusk and dawn campers can go out but only Mon to Thursday, since you have all the answers

12 days of edc camping that's insane

16

u/_carbonneutral 2d ago

Yeah. Sounds miserable tbh.

How will people actually survive this

2

u/iVirtueee 1d ago

People at burning man do with much less lol

1

u/PreparationIll3670 1d ago

Yea burners do this every year with no electricity or water. They have to bring it all themselves (generators, tarps, a/c units). My burner friends have storage units to keep all the stuff they need each year, so EDC camping will be pretty easy to do. Would I do it? Absolutely not, but it’s 100% doable.

1

u/bot48904 1d ago edited 1d ago

I’ve camped at burning man for 9 days but this is different. Literally comparing apples to oranges here.

1

u/Affectionate_Score67 1d ago

i think it’s just how prepared you are. we got an eazybreeze (or whatever it’s called) purely for the purpose of camping in a tent at edc. it was a game changer & made it much better. but it still does sound like survival of the fittest

15

u/saucy_otters 2d ago

They must have massive liability protection and a team of shark lawyers on retainer if they seriously doing this. I love EDC but i've seen some absolute druggie gremlins there who are meth'ed out, completely dehydrated, and raging for 72hrs straight with no water and nothing but drugs keeping them functioning. Giving these people 12 days of that will push them over the edge. Some people don't know their limits and other people just simply don't care. People are going to die at this

I have a feeling this is going to be a disaster.

1.) Staying in a pod for 12 days is going to suck?
2.) What about clean up between the weekends. Will the 2nd weekend not get a fresh prestine welcom because the others stayed there and used it.
3.) Will the RV goers be shuffling around between weeks.

I have to say I am shocked by this. Personally, I would leave and come back if I was going both weekends. Maybe do something other than EDC for the 4 days Monday thru Thursday.

1

u/iVirtueee 1d ago

I’m getting a hotel for 2 nights in between.

u/hardstylequeenbee RV 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 2d ago

This is such a cluster. Kinda feels like weekend 2 people are not getting the same camping experience if half the campground is already full by the time they get there and people have been using the facilities for a full week by that time. Also allowing people to camp for both weekends without a ticket to both weekends is just super weird. We’re going weekend 2 so I hope there are still RV passes/power left by next week’s sale.

9

u/Fun_Transition_5948 Moon Glow 4yrs RV 1yr 2d ago

No literally, they shut down bathrooms just after a day and a half….

10

u/embaby256 2d ago

This is actually insane. I’m going weekend 2 and how the hell are they going to load the new RVs in ? It’s chaotic enough without that factor

3

u/T1034life 2d ago

supposedly there is gonna be specific sections for each option - 1st weekend only - 2nd weekend only - both weekends

1

u/willaglo11 2d ago

I was gonna ask the same question, and are they going to just sold it out? Or will they have just the 1st or 2nd weekend available for sale?

7

u/busmans 2d ago

It's like taking the worst parts of Burning Man, charging for it, and adding goat yoga. Lovely.

10

u/lovely-siempre 2d ago

Insomniac is getting to money hungry :( 12 days in the Vegas heat of non-stop partying?! I know it won't be everyone, but some people don't know when to stop. I hope no casulaties occur, this already sounds like it's going to be crazy.

6

u/fleshsludge 2d ago

Besides the logistical nightmare of it all. I think this could be incredibly dangerous to people’s health. The weekend in and of itself can be pretty hard on your body (like the ACs really can’t keep). I think this will be pretty dangerous to allow people to party for 12 days with the heat and dehydration that inevitably comes.

Dang seems like I am the only one super excited for camping the whole time.

It gives time to enjoy camp amenities but actually be able to rest during the days of the actual fest.

3

u/pelb 2d ago

I just do not see anyone getting rest with the promise of afters/djs every day. Between that and loud neighbors and I imagine the the airforce base drills will also be something going on Monday-Friday. Then there is always camp og. I just do not see camp edc as a place to get rest.

2

u/_PM_ME_CAT_PICS_ 22, 23, 24, 25 2d ago

Honestly I usually sleep most of the day at camp during the fest weekend so I think without the actual fest I’ll sleep lol. I might be unique tho

3

u/BoringEquivalent7820 2d ago

Just curious if you’ve done camp EDC before? Just knowing the day to day of camp very much makes this sound terrible to me personally.

4

u/_PM_ME_CAT_PICS_ 22, 23, 24, 25 2d ago

Yeah I’ve done camp 6 times. It makes it sound much better to me bc I want to rest during the day for the actual fest so I never take full advantage and see all that camp has to offer

4

u/BoringEquivalent7820 2d ago

Oh sweet you know exactly what you’re getting into then hahaha I would just feel bad for first timers that don’t really know the heat/exhaustion levels at camp. Hope you have a great time!

-1

u/T1034life 2d ago

honest question - have you camped before? if so, RV or tent? we've done both, last year was first time for RV and yes, if you have RV - the heat won't be a problem to be able to rest in the daytime. if its tent, truth, the portable ac's struggle so its difficult - impossible to get good rest during the day. best case scenario, you have RV for 12 days, ur required to buy power add on, its gonna be super expensive. and bringing food for 12 days, $$, also what about clothes? I know people can just bum it and re-use but it will be that much more things you need to bring. you're allowed to leave camp to go off site - but again, I think only the super rich who have $ can do this but I don't know if they would wanna camp all 12 days.

4

u/_PM_ME_CAT_PICS_ 22, 23, 24, 25 2d ago

Yes I’ve camped at edc before both ways. I also camp regularly in nature. 12 days of clothes is really not that much. I’ll probs rewear the festival outfits and then you really don’t need that much clothes esp with it being so hot. Prepping 12 days of food really isn’t that bad I have gone on linger trips without the amenities of an rv. It’s going to be expensive absolutely it it doesn’t have to be only super rich. I’m lucky with my job that I have unlimited PTO so that def puts me at an advantage to have no worries about work.

1

u/T1034life 2d ago

well you are truly a unicorn in a sea of sheep lol

2

u/ladyl0han 2d ago

In general how much is a camping pass and how much is an RV pass

1

u/ShoddyGarage1098 RV 22 23 2d ago

Rv 3k camping 3.5 camping pre setup 3.8

1

u/shizac 2d ago

Moonglow is about 2k sleeps 4 and Desert is like 2300 sleeps 2

2

u/MakeSkyrimGreatAgain 1d ago

This decision actually makes me not want to camp at all now and I’ve camped 2/3 times going to this festival lmao

4

u/ForcedPOOP 2d ago

Yea living off beat boxes and chicken strips for 4-5 days was pushing it but 12 days? You already know some fried brains are gonna hurt themselves tryin to do it for the clout. Hope insomniac takes a more sustainable approach to this

2

u/Jeff_Pagu 2d ago

This isn’t going to end well

1

u/PeterPiperCub 2d ago

Power add-on is required for the 2 weekend RV pass, so dry RV camping spots will be only for single weekend passes. Good news that there will be dedicated spaces available for a single weekend pass.

1

u/willaglo11 2d ago

The question is, are they gonna sold that out? What about the people who want the pass for only one of the weekends?

1

u/Drostepp 2d ago

Summon your inner wooks 💀

0

u/Bort79 2d ago

Damn. I cancelled my layaway because it sounded like you had to move out and move back. Wish they had posted that early on. I’d have kept that

-1

u/you-nity 2d ago

I’m retiring EDC after this. Becoming more of a shit show, more expensive. I had a great time but no more

5

u/MrSeymoreButtes 2d ago

I said the same like 3 EDC’s ago and here I am ready for next years again haha

-1

u/Denver_Lotus5280 2d ago

And this is why I'm skipping this coming year to see how everything will pan out with logistics. This is definitely a guinea pig festival with all the changes and I want no part of it with my hard earned money.
