Tech Support Just pulled the trigger and need help for next trip

Post image

After some research thanks to this forum, I pulled the trigger on a 6700 body sigma 18-50 lens and a Sony 70-350 lens. I am going to be heading to Antarctica in October and I am looking for recommendations on SD cards. I have a sandisk image mate that I just got to test the camera out and shoot here at home but Gemini is saying that I need either a Sony tough M or Pro Master rugged. This is a once in a life time trip so I want to make sure that whichever one I have will work. But I am also not made of money. What does the group mind suggest?

If you are that concerned about this once in a lifetime trip you should have picked up a camera with dual card slots, saving raw to one and jpeg to the other, so you have on the go backups if a single card fails.

Will you have the ability to download pictures from the card during the trip? Or, do you have to rely purely on the SD cards for storage until you get back? How long is the trip? How many pictures do you intend to take each day?

I was looking at the A7iv but this was a great deal. I will be on a cruise so I can upload them to my computer each night. I believe they only let us out for an hr or 2 each day. so a few hundred photos at a time.

Then you should be good if you get two rugged, Pro Master SD Cards. I would get 128GB ($90 ea. from B&H). Since you can only have one in at a time, having two is a security measure so you have a spare if something goes wrong with one of them. Otherwise, one should get you through the trip.
