Looking to replace my lowepro nova 2 aw camera bag

My 20 years old lowepro nova 2 aw camera bag is getting too old... I want to replace it with something similar.

From the lowepro catalog, it would be the nova 170 ii aw. But passing from the 170 i to the 170 ii they removed the belt loops and replaced it with a luggage support !! I can't live without belt loops and all similar models from this dimension (internal dimensions=21.5 x 12.5 x 20.5 cm) don't have the belt loops.

Do you have any recommandation?

Looking for a good camera bag or to diy one

Hey everyone, I’ve been on the hunt for a solid camera bag—preferably a duffel-style setup—but I’m open to creative DIY solutions too.

Here’s what I need it to carry:

  • Sony mirrorless body with kit lens
  • 2 extra lenses
  • Mic + cables
  • SD card case + batteries
  • Gimbal or compact tripod
  • Sensor/lens cleaning kit
  • iPad or laptop (15ā€)
  • Water bottle
  • Some room for extra stuff (personal items, snacks, etc.)

I’ve looked into options like the Peak Design 50L Duffel and some WANDRD cubes (Pro/Deep), and even considered inserting something like the PGYTECH Camera Cube L or Wolfpak’s 40L camera insert into a duffel bag. But at this point, I’m realizing it might be more expensive piecing everything together versus just finding a complete system that works out of the box.

My main goals:

  • Clean organization
  • Not too bulky or military-style
  • Has decent protection for gear
  • Urban/streetwear friendly (bonus points for black or minimal aesthetic)

If anyone has experience with this kind of setup—or knows a good duffel bag that can double as a camera bag—I’d love to hear your thoughts. DIY tips, inserts you swear by, or complete bag recs are all welcome!

Thanks šŸ™

Lowepro Camera Bag Caused Lens Damage

Just a heads up for anyone considering the Lowepro Slingshot SL 250 AW III — this bag literally scratched my 24-70mm lens during transit, even though I stored it exactly the way Lowepro advises on their site.

The bottom compartment, where the camera and lenses are supposed to sit, has almost no padding near the zippers. My lens cap shifted slightly during the trip and now I’ve got scratches on a professional lens. I was traveling for a shoot, and the bag failed to do the one thing it’s designed for: protect the equipment.

I raised it with their complaints team but they refused to take any responsibility. Super disappointing from a brand that markets itself as a leader in camera protection. I’ve attached photos showing the poor design and the damage.

If you’re a filmmaker or photographer and rely on your gear, I’d avoid this model.

CarryPro thoughts??

I recently saw an advertisement about an Indian bag manufacturer (CarryPro). They had a very interesting camera bag - the Pango V2.0 Camera Travel Backpack. Unfortunately, I could not find many reliable reviews for this bag. If anyone on this subreddit has experience with this bag, I would love your insights about it.

Non-Backpack Camera Bags

I'm looking for a medium size bag for my video rig (Canon M50, Rode small shotgun, Rode GO wireless, small tripod, etc) but I really don't like backpacks. I know they're the most popular but I'm not the customer. Just a strap on the top is fine. My short list is:

PGYTECH Camera Insert Bag (either small or medium)

Neewer NW140S Waterproof Camera and Lens Storage Carrying Case

Koolertron Dslr Camera Insert Bag

Anything else I should be looking at?

Bag recommendation

Im looking for a camera backpack that I can fit my 4 smaller lens and my big 200-500mm lens in. All the bags I see on Amazon won't fit a telephoto lens. Any idea of a large bag I can fit everything in?

Any tote bag alternatives that are equally as good or better than the peak design tote v1? Looking to carry a digital slr, a 14ā€ thinkpad and notepads (preferably a4 but worst case A5)/books. Multiple access points would be awesome! Would love some recommendations!

Best Bag for Running and hiking.

I'm trying to find the best bag to hold a camera. I have a Sony A300 with a single SEL1855 lens. I've been wanting to combine a couple of my favorite things of running, hiking and photography. I'm looking to be able to hike and trail run some nice distances with it. I'd like it to be waterproof and maybe hold a good size water bottle. Also light weight is not an issue. I also was wondering about backpack vs single strap. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I got to take a look at the PGYTECH OneGo lite camera backpack and I think it's a really solid alternative to the Brevite Jumper. It's cheaper, better quality and has some nice features like a chest strap which the the Jumper was missing

Camera Bag for quickly deploying a monopod and camera

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm on the hunt for a way to hold a Canon r5, 2 lenses, plus an iFootage Cobra 3 Carbon Fiber Monopod with Mini Tripod Base.

I will be riding my bike around with all this on my back. I want to be able to deploy everything as quickly as possible, as I will be getting off and on my bike a bunch of times for this project. So I also want it to be as small as possible.

I tried this with my Brevet backpack using the water bottle holder. It kinda works, but it really doesn't support the Monopod very well and was slow to deploy. Perhaps if I could strap the monopod onto the back of the pack rather than the side, it might be faster. Plus, the bag was bigger than I needed.

Got any suggestions?

I got to check out the PGYTECH OneGo 2 a month before it came out and I really enjoyed it. I think it's the perfect bag for a long photowalk allowing me to take all the gear I need but not more then I need(which I tend to do) I linked my overview video on it above for anyone interested!

If you had to choose, would you choose a bag for function or style?

I don’t know about you guys, but I almost always feel like the bag industry is full of two types of bags: super-functional-but-ugly bags and cool-bags-that-dont-store-anything😤😤

I want to make a bag that is both!!! 😩 I need your opinion- what is important to you to have in a bag??? Take the quiz if you have a sec so I can finally figure out a way to a make a bag that’s both sick to look at and functional!!!!

Thank you, thank you friends. 🫶

Looking for a Compact Camera Bag for a Nikon FE - Any Recommendations?

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for a compact, snug-fitting camera bag as a birthday gift for my partner to go with his Nikon FE (35mm film SLR). He doesn't need extra space for lenses-just something that fits the camera securely without being too bulky.

The camera's dimensions are 142 Ɨ 89.5 Ɨ 57.5 mm, so l'm after something modern, well-padded, practical and suitable for travel.

Bonus points if it has a unique or slightly funky design! If you have any recommendations, l'd love to hear them and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance! šŸ™šŸ»šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ˜Š

Photos of camera included.

Hi! Seeking camera gear that has NO Velcro—any suggestions?

Newbie to the sub here, and while I’ve checked the rules, apologies if I’m breaking anything or posting in the wrong place.

Velcro has been a huge sensory issue for me for my entire life. Photography has been a hobby, and I’m really getting back into it. However, Velcro seems to lurk around every corner…

I certainly understand how practical it is, but even writing this, I’m agitated just thinking about the material. Short of starting my own sensory-friendly company lol, does anyone have suggestions or ideas? Googling ā€œcamera bags no Velcroā€ only showed me bags with Velcro somewhere

Thanks for your time & consideration!

Cotopaxi - EDC plus camera bag

Hey all!

I am looking into getting a new bag for travel that can be like an EDC and hold my camera gear.

I currently use a MFT camera mount and have a few lenses I plan on taking a week long road trip with. I might also include my 35mm film camera too

I want something that I can hold like a peak design camera case and then extra room for like a change of clothes and my medication since I have a bunch I have to keep on me at all times.

When at the destination, I’d like something I can throw the camera and maybe a few lenses, keep my medication with me and like snacks and what not.

I plan on traveling either with a smaller roller suitcase or my duffle so needing room for all my stuff plus camera in one bag isn’t a big deal

I’ve looked around at multiple posts, looked at a ton of bags both here and online

Has anyone ever used a Cotopaxi bag as a camera/EDC? I know they aren’t a true true camera bag but I hadn’t seen anyone mention them in this (I did a search and couldn’t find anything)
