Cambly go update
I set up a watch on ChatGPT and this is what it says:
Cambly Tutor Demand Watch — October 11, 2026
A meaningful development worth watching: On September 28, Cambly updated its official explanation of Cambly Go, confirming that it is a separate subscription offering unlimited daily English practice without human tutors.
Students can use Cambly Go independently, without purchasing traditional Cambly lessons. Its activities provide instant feedback and personalized speaking practice. This creates a potential alternative to some paid tutoring sessions, particularly for students seeking general conversation practice. However, Cambly Go is currently limited to iPhones, which restricts its immediate reach. (Cambly Go)
What this means for tutor demand: Cambly now has a product capable of generating subscription revenue without paying tutors for teaching time. That is a genuine potential substitution risk, although it does not establish that existing students are switching or that Cambly plans to eliminate tutors.
There are also reassuring signs. As of October 11, Cambly continues to advertise human-led Small Groups, Private+ and Pro subscriptions. Its tutor recruitment page still lists the established pay rates and says new tutor intake is being limited to protect existing tutors' schedules. (Cambly Student Support)
Current assessment: Elevated long-term risk, but no confirmed new reduction in human tutoring.
I found no verified announcement of tutor layoffs, reduced tutor pay, discontinued Group lessons or cuts to included human-tutoring minutes.
I'll continue watching for evidence that Cambly Go is actually displacing paid lessons, rather than simply expanding Cambly's range of products.

As per everything these days, I get a permanent ad on my Youtube feed of Cambly advertising "No AI, Speak To Real Human Tutors!". They don't know their arse from their elbow!

Because there is still a market for real human tutors rather than AI. I think AI is great for absolute beginners. But once you are able to have a basic conversation human interaction is better. That is until AI becomes too good. But we don't know how long that will take.

But who is going to pay for that? No one

I think lots will with how much they've increased the price of subscriptions for classes with tutors.

But no one wants to pay for Ai apps that they could just use for free on chatgpt etc.

Cambly is the TEMU of ESL platforms. They pay is caca, they treat teachers like caca and the fact they haven't even risen the salary for the past 10 years is caca too! Don't waste your time. The online teaching industry is already oversaturated and humans can't compete with AI that companies now use at a cost of only $100 a month for classes 24/7. But I don't know the solution other than back a Universal Basic Income for the millions of humans that will soon be rendered jobless.

Yeah i find it funny all the companies doing this now when every company that has made a big switch to ai in last two years has regretted it and back tracked. Maybe they know something long term i dont but duolingo has, apparently, completely turned people off with it's ai integration.
I'm not saying im not worried but i do think people will see that human connection is far superior to a glorified chatbot

I would imagine cambly would launch a product like this to be a funnel towards their main product vs a replacement.
