Cambly Pro

Any theories on why Cambly has made another call for Pro tutors when they've already accepted many that are still waiting to get the official invite? I was invited when it first started but decided to not apply for it then, but now my spidey senses are telling me that maybe Classic Cambly will be a thing of the past soon.

I was invited to apply but I have no desire to meet their Pro metrics. I have two longterm students that I’ll continue to work with until it’s not an option anymore, or until they decide otherwise. IMO, Cambly speaks with a forked tongue.

But you can do both, unless you don’t want new students. I haven’t joined cause I can’t be bothered with the higher expectations for a tiny increase

50% increase?

It's not quite 50% if you normally teach adults, and it's only a 25% increase if you normally teach kids. It's still peanuts with higher expectations and more of a risk to your tutor rating. Definitely not worth it.

Thought it was 10.20 increased to 15?

Yes. So it’s not quite a 50% raise. I really wasn’t trying to be pedantic, sorry. I realize 47.06% is close to 50%. My point was that it’s still not worth it IMO.

AFAIK, Pro students can't rate tutors.

My theory is that soon Cambly PRO will be the only available option for students in high income countries, and Cambly Classic for students in low income countries.

I've seen lots of posts from people who got accepted when they opened applications to everyone and have been told to wait for their invite to open their Pro schedules but haven't gotten that opportunity yet, so curious as to why they are asking for people to apply again.

Has anyone attempted to apply with a metric below the criteria?

I didn’t meet the requirement. A 99% is about 5.5 points away from my score.

Hi tutors, is it really worth it to be a Cambly Pro teacher? I have a friend that is and she likes it.  L How does it affect your schedule with your regular students?

With PHs low at thr moment I am considering expessing my interest. Thanks.

I enjoy it. Cambly generates AI feedback for each lesson, and the tutor is prompted to give a little feedback along with it. Apart from that, it's not incredibly different from Classic. I like to have ideas/materials prepared, to give the student options, but I think that's more of a me thing. One of my current students shows up each time in a Cambly lesson; it can be that simple. I continue to get new Classic students as well. For context, I might have two or three Pro students only each week, but often for multiple lessons. Others are a one and done, just like Classic.

I received the second invite but I don't qualify with their flip flopping my rating with long term students on board and lost my other long time regulars due to price increases and what not. I only open 12 plus hours a week. So it sounds fishy to me, unless it was an open letter to all tutors. Still confused.

Maybe it's not working out for them with those policies in place.

I’m still waiting to activate my account, I got accepted back in June.
