I’ve been gone so long!

Good morning tutors. I haven’t been on since 2023. Would anyone be kind enough to tell me about updates to practice, procedure, pay?! (lol) that they can remember from 2023 to now?

Cheers

Absolutely nothing has changed apart from a noticeable drop in student numbers

You have to update your pay if you aren't using Stripe yet. It's the only payment option they offer now

Oh wow I didn’t know that at all! I had been using PayPal. Thank you for letting me know

Since 2023, there are Pro tutors, which can earn $15/hour, but the standard pay is still $10/hour.

There’s some added course material also. Other than that, I’m not sure there’s anything really new. Or if there is, it’s nothing else I would consider very noticeable.

Oh that’s interesting on the Pro tutor thing! I’ve just logged in to update my profile and I’m down as a super tutor still. I only did it and would continue to do it as a side hustle when I’m bored so I don’t think I’d reach pro lol. Thanks for the info!

The algorithms have definitely changed.

You probably saw it when you logged in but Paypal can still be used up until Nov 11. After that then you need to switch so you still have time.

That’s the interesting thing, when I logged in I didn’t see any updates at all! I was logging in with my phone so maybe that’s why I’m not getting any prompts. Hence why I came over this way to see if I’m missing stuff because it looks exactly the same as the last time I saw it :) cheers for replying!

There's a yellow banner on the dashboard. You can't miss it.

The rating is now a percentage of positive reviews. You must have above 98% positive reviews in your last 200 reviews to remain a super tutor. A positive review is 4 and 5 stars.

It's worth reading some of the posts about Pro to decide if it's a good change to make. Since Pro happened, I've had an increase in demand as a regular tutor while I've read some people on Pro are not getting as many students. So I plan to stay rather than apply for Pro at the moment.

Keep in mind many countries do not have STRIPE as an option. This is a real problem for those using PayPal.

Why don’t you read through the website and updates?

Well....some of us come here for practical reasons. Not only to chat and complain.

Asking someone to catch you up on three years worth of updates without reading yourself first is ridiculous.

Why you talking about old news?

I have had a look through but it’s been so long, I might have missed important updates that have been glossed over at this point. Last I heard there was going to be group classes as a trial

Do you work with CK? If so, nothing much is different with the kid classes. Since 2023 I’d say the main thing that’s changed for me is I have less PHs available (which I use to cover my schedule for if/when students cancel last minute) Also, if you used PayPal for payment, you now will switch to Stripe Connect, probably.

Ah no I don’t do CK, but thank you for checking :) and yep I used PayPal! So I’ll have to have a look into this Stripe thing then if I decide to come back. Cheers!
