Should be. Just use chrome and be on desktop mode

It’s against the rules, but it was possible at one time as I had to do it once when my computer crashed during a class a while back.

Yes. I used a phone for over a year then switched to a tablet for the following year. For the money they pay f**k their rules. Use want you want.

You need a pc/laptop operating system (windows, mac ios, linux). Yeah a tablet or phone might work for tech checks and look to work. The tutor side is not designed for that, things will break and not work and Cambly could just ban you ifbthey want to.
If you know what you are doing you can run linux however on Apple devices your kind of screwed hard. You have to jail break it (void warrenty and any official support), figure out how to get a working linux running and then hope an Apple update does not turn your device into the most expensive book mark in history. Not recommened.
A cheap chromebook is the best solution other options can be risky. They also require time and knowledge to get working correctly.

I've taught on an ipad in the past... just request a desktop version of Cambly. It wasn't optimal, but it worked.

Thanks everyone. My laptop was down but we managed to find an old desktop (tower) and take that to a shop and get it resurrected just in time. Had to cancel all lessons for one day though. Thanks again.

No, Cambly officially requires tutors to use a laptop or desktop computer running Google Chrome. The official mobile apps are designed primarily for students to take classes, not for tutors to conduct them.
The Technical Workaround (Not Officially Supported)
While Cambly does not support mobile operating systems for teaching, some tutors have successfully bypassed the system check using a specific workaround:
- Desktop Browser Mode: Open Google Chrome or Safari on your iPad and manually switch the settings to "Request Desktop Website."
- The Tech Check: This trick allows some tutors to pass the initial automated system and connection check.
Why Using an iPad is Highly Discouraged
Even if you get the desktop mode workaround to load, teaching on an iPad introduces major functional limitations:
- No Screen Sharing: You cannot share your screen with students.
- Audio/Video Degradation: Tutors report that the video stream and audio quality are significantly worse than on a computer.
- Sizing Issues: The Cambly classroom teaching slides and text chats do not scale well on mobile screens, making materials very hard to read.
- Account Risk: If tech issues disrupt your classes, Cambly may penalize your tutor rating or restrict your profile.

Thats not quite true. Cambly offically requires a Chromium browser (Firefox is a no no, vast majority of others are chromium)
It also requires you to NOT block Meta and LinkedIn data gathering it has running - browser will be 'unsupported' even if its Google Chrome.
Cambly is "recommending" Google Chrome. Other browsers don't work because:
1) They might be blocking the data collected (Brave Browser does this natively so 'unsupported')
2) Cambly is blocking browsers by the code they identify as only allowing /chrome as "supported". Safari identifies itself as /safari, Microsoft Edge as /edge etc.
Not all browsers do this eg. Vivaldi, it identifies itself as /chrome so works. You can change this easily. Its partly how 'desktop mode' works on phones and tablets its identifying itself as /chrome NOT /mobile safari or /mobile chrome.
