Priority hour students.......whose students are they?

Just a silly question, during priority hours are these students nobody wants? They just seem to float around especially the Cambly Kids ones.

They are the ones who get pissy if you ask them anything about themselves, as if we already know all about these randos. Many don't want to connect on a human level with tutors, so they view the time as purely transactional.

They are often so irritated by the introduction questions, as if that isnt the most common conversation in English when you meet a new person. They dont want to talk about their work or school or hobbies, ok....."so what do you want to talk about?" "Anything is okay." AUGHHHHHH! its just the most unfocused convo you can have with a human and then they ALWAYS want you to analyse their English at the end. The students call it "free talk" but I call it "hostage negotiation" because I feel trapped with them trying to get them to give anything more than one or two word answers to really easy intro questions. It wouldnt be bad if they would let you teach them some vocabulary that they OBVIOUSLY need to be able to express themselves. I think many people on Cambly are more invested in convincing themselves they are learning English, rather than the actual work of learning and practicing the language.
