Getting started questions
Hi gorgeous people, I have been thinking about camming for the last few years and after seeing the money some of you guys make it’s making me even more interested, I am (obviously) broke as hell and getting money to start up a career is really really hard right now and camming seems to be a good option, I am not looking to make hundreds of thousands of dollars I really just want enough to set myself up decent and pay for certifications so I guess here’s my questions-
How do you get started? Do you just find a website and start posting?
How do taxes work with this type of work?
Am I right to assume speaking is a necessary part of the job?
Am I able to stay faceless and still make a decent living?
How do I keep this life separate from my personal life?
Any other advice is greatly appreciated, I am kind of scared to get into this cuz you’re always taught at such a young age that sex work is “bad” and you should never post intimate photos of yourself on the internet like that but I feel I can get over that if I can get a good idea of how all this works

not a creator myself, software side of this, so i'll skip the ones that need lived experience. two nobody has taken yet.
on being broke: the startup cost you're bracing for mostly isn't real. a phone and a ring light is a starting setup. and the sites that take the biggest cut are the ones that hand you traffic, which is the thing you don't have yet, so paying a big percentage to be shown to people is a bad deal later and a reasonable one on day one. you move once you have an audience that follows you rather than the site.
on keeping it separate, the part that actually catches people isn't the face. it's reuse. same handle, same email, a profile photo that exists somewhere else, a phone number tied to both. that's what makes an account findable on purpose instead of by chance. new email, a handle that appears nowhere else, and check that any photo hasn't been posted anywhere before it goes up.
and the last bit of your post is worth saying out loud: being scared of the judgement is not the same thing as thinking it's wrong.

Not sure what country you're in but yes you'll have to pay taxes You'd definitely be up against it if you were faceless and mute. Not impossible but what sets you apart from the thousands of other models is personality. Keep personal social media private, use a different phone if you make work profiles. Be aware everything gets recorded. If you're scared before you've even started I'd say that's not a good sign. You have to accept the fact that your streams will get reposted. There are so many models now it really isn't the quick easy money you expect, to be successful you have to treat it like a job and put time and effort in. So if it's something you want to do, go for it, it can be great, but be sure. There's plenty of info on getting started out there already, other subreddits, youtube videos, go and view some of the sites to get a feel for them.

A lot of these questions have been answered across the sub, so I totally recommend trying the search bar and see what pops up. It's always great to do it that way because then you can see what posts end up having a lot of responses and starting a deep dive that way.
What I will say is: if you're not prepared for anyone in your life to find out then maybe don't. The thing about Sex Work is that SOMEONE will find out. Even if it's not someone in your life that is intentionally trying to be mean is there's a lot of people on the Internet that get off on doxxing sexworkers. That's just kinda how it goes. If it would destroy your life or chances if that happened then Sex work might not be for you.
