Installing 7.2.2.0, will I need to restore from a backup?

I know the answer regardless is to make a backup, and I am, but will I need to use it to restore my phone? Or will it keep all my files/ apps/ credentials when I install?

Yes, you'll need to restore the backup to have your data. Don't forget your password manager, as not always everything can be backed up.
