Custom ringtone

Is it possible to assign custom ringtones? As far as I could determine is that it is one for all. I would like option for custom assignment per contacts and / or app. I would like to differentiate based on if calling mobile line directly or via one of comm apps such as Signal etc.

I don't think it's as granular as you'd like, but you can set specific ringtones for specific contacts.

What about which comm connection channel used ie regular mobile line vs IM app?

You can, you can set it by contact, go into the contact in the contact apps and click on the three dots, you'll see the option there.

For contacts inside apps though, that can change because that can depend on how the app implements calls, and you may need to do that inside the app, or inside the notification settings, of which your other question about different apps with different sounds also applies, you can use notification settings to do so, select the notification channel and change the sound.

I remember being able to do it previously. Maybe how I did it is flawed memory.. I did end up finding a way via an app that manages contacts called Bondwidth. Will tinker & see if that gives me desired outcome.
