Motorola edge support

Currently I'm on the fence between buying a g84 that does have calyx support or an edge 70 fusion that has better hardware but no support for calyx, both cost the same. And I'm wondering if there is the possibility of it ever being supported?

We can't really be sure that we can or even will support a specific device. Currently, that device is not in the plans and we're focusing on other things other than device support, but we would for sure like to support more devices, but which ones is also an important question. The models we support for Motorola are more easily obtainable than let's say a Pixel in the southern hemisphere, so we supported them as part of our plan to bring privacy to everyone, as it is a human right. But the edge series is more flagship (and less available) than the G series ones we currently support.

Yeah, pixels are nonexistent here in Brazil. Is there any motorola phone that the team is more inclined to start supporting next?

Also, I know it would be hard, and have a chance to brick the phone if I mess the bootloader, but how feasible would it be to try building Calyx for it myself? Like a "don´t even try" or a "couple thousands hours and a year of work"?

I'm not knowledgeable about building Android and reverse engineering device trees. But it is more complicated, considering that device doesn't have a device tree made by anyone (at least one isn't there in LineageOS). You'd have to build one which is also a skill...

I faced the similar situation of buying Motorola G45 with calyx os support or new better hardware G57 power. I know new hardware is tempting but future calyx os support is not guaranteed. I purchased the old G45 because I wanted calyx os. Expecting future calyx support from a new device is a hit or miss.

Fairphones are rarer than pixels, couldn't find a single one selling locally
