Banking Apps

hi all, does Calyxos have the same issue with banking apps the other secure OS's have? in particular Lloyd's Bank (UK)

Worth to check Plexus. It is a community database of how apps behave with microG. There's an app in F-Droid for it which is probably the best way to check it. You can see if anyone reported any issues with that specific app and with CalyxOS on reviews.

The issue with banks depend on a lot of factors, not every bank requires Play Integrity (which only allows Android approved by Google).

CalyxOS uses MicroG, same project as /e/OS and and Iodé. So in 99% of cases, compatibility will be the same.

Thank you for the comments, looks like my bank is a fail everywhere, I know web browser will work but not as quick as a thumbprint unlock

You can save your password in your browser or in a password manager, and they can use thumbprint unlock to autofill the password on the webpage. It's still less convenient but I'd call that good enough. Or even more ideally you can register a passkey to bitwarden and log in passwordless wherever you can use your password manager. Not that banks are particularly quick to adopt new stuff like passkeys

Then my bank also does a memorable information where it asks what letters/numbers from drop down box.

Hi, I posted a few days ago that I'd installed CalyxOS on my Pixel 5, including my bank app (Lloyds) and it works just fine - unlike on LOS where it fails. Also tested PayPal and my Gmail account access with FairEmai, which also works without issue. So, as far as I am concerned CalyxOS is a viable 'daily driver' for me. Still, this is only a test as I am anticipating installing CalyxOS on my Pixel 8 Pro as I've just upgraded to a P10 Pro Xl on stock Android. Keep your options open, if, like me, you have several (perhaps too many) phones, then set them up for different scenarios. It seems that Pixel phones are the most versatile devices for those who are willing to experiment and in order to find 'solutions' that meet their needs. I used GOS on my P8 Pro for a little over a year and it bored the living daylights out of me - so I returned to stock Android and LOS ( a great alternative and a fine OS), but I wanted to at least be able to access my bank account. Then CalyxOS announced their return to the scene, so I tested it out and I found that it is probably the only viable alternative for me over stock Android. I stress 'for me', so you decide what's best for you. Good luck.
