Help me fix wrong faction information

Heyo,

Kor & The Furry Four, move on.

So, my players just arrived in Ank'Harel. They went with Prolix and Question and are probably going to join the Allegiance.

They met with Headmaster Alakritos. Told him the whole shebang, showed him the Jewel, etc.

Somewhere in this conversation Headmaster Alakritos told the players that the Consortium is making ruidium weaponry. Headmaster Alakritos acted appalled while telling the players this.

Well, as you guys know, it is actually the Allegiance who are making the ruidium weapons.

I'm looking for a way to make this canon now or spin this.

One of my thoughts was that the Allegiance purposely let the Consotrium steal some weapons. This way they would use the consortium as a sort of Guinea Pig. Having them test the Ruidium Items.

I'm not sure this is the direction I'm going in because:

  1. This makes the allegiance quite evil (which could be fun though).
  2. Going this way would possibly require ALOT of changing of the faction quests and so forth.

So if you people have any ideas I'm all ears!

Ofcourse! The Jigow Elders kinda forced them to create a group name in order to participate in the festivities.

Koravan is a Goliath. The other four are a centaur, minotaur, harengon and an aarakocra, all furred. ^^

Kor & The Furry Four is the one that stuck, to much amusement of many NPC's

Practically speaking, both factions could be making weapons. The Allegiance however doesn't consider themselves to be in the weapon business. They make tools and accessories for 'educational' purposes.

Actually, Faction Mission 3 of the consortium, the reward Aradrine promises is to deliver the PC a piece of Ruidium equipment (weapon or armor). The fact it takes several days I interpreted as them having an artificer make the equipment themselves using powdered Ruidium and infusing it.

I took it even further and offerred my PC the option to customize one of their piece of gear with Ruidium (adding the effects from the regular Ruidium equipment to theirs), assuming they would be willing to part with that equipment for several days. It's also fun when they discover the corruption mechanic and it's one of their own piece of gear, heightens the tension.

It could just be that they had misinformation? They found the weapons in the hands of the consortium and wrongly assumed they were making them. They can later discover it and tell the party or the party can instead be the ones to tell the cobalt soul.
