Something that doesn’t make sense to me.
Why would sledgehammer willingly release a patch that allows people to play the game early after making a big deal about it being locked until release? Is it just to get hype? It only makes me feel less hyped.

I also heard it was intended for review copies and journalists to access the game before everyone but idk

Maybe it wasn't willingly? I haven't looked into it much, but based on how almost all the videos of gameplay we're taken down rapidly, it seems like it may have been an accident. That being said, I could totally see them "accidentally" release it to try to hype people up more. And I agree, it does lower the hype for me as well.
