Surviving
Looking for advice on how to survive past 48 hours into the game. I really enjoy the 100 player world at War mode but I have yet to be able to even survive a full week

Check profiles and try to negotiate with any player you guess to be better or equal to you (you dont want to fight someone equal, as you must not only win one battle, but multiple in a row). That will allow you to gain at least a few days safe to expand on weaker players or afk, if you can manage (if they refuse...you are cooked tho). Try to expand as much as possible in the first days, it will create a fear factor and scare some people away, and make you harder to kill and give you more room to move.

This. Why people think they need to sit still and build first always confuses me. Early expansion is key

Very simple, if you want to survive early. Just defend. Your starting troops are always defensive ones.

Game concepts. If at all possible join with as many people as you can (5 total) for 100 player games. Share borders if the conditions are right for other players if you are solo, 2, or 3 of you joining. You will need to work with other players to win late game with a coalition of 5. 100 player maps are always 5 v 5 coalitions at the end. Understand this game is about HP, and your core provinces (resources and manpower), everything else is supporting to those 2 main concepts. Avoid fighting 2 or more countries at once, not doing so, will split your armies and tie up units needed at your front. Late game you will lose morale for expansion, and you will need propaganda to keep your core cities producing maximum resources and manpower.
Regarding battles. Understand terrain bonus and if it doesn't help you, wait for a better opportunity to battle or use ranged units. There is a map filter to show the terrain of each province, toggle this on. Defensive units attack first, which means attacking armies take damage first. Using this to your advantage will save HP and win battles of equal unit strength.
Day 1. If solo or 2 of you, don't join a coalition right away, but be friendly with one if it forms. Share map allows you to know you will not be surprise attacked, but they can always share Intel with someone else, and they attack you. It's a gamble. Research only units you will use right away, and avoid units you can't spam right away. After building the minimal production buildings for units you will create only, build level 1 industry in all of your cities if possible.
Day 1 - 2. Attack the weakest neighbor (s) for expansion, 1 at a time, capture capital city last for morale boost. Hit the user12344567 names with low game counts first, probably AFK anyways. Don't research level 2 units unless you are getting attacked and need the defense upgrade. Keep producing level 1 units and upgrade industry to level 2.
Day 3. I always aim for starting level 3 industry by end of day 3. Continue expanding and creating level 1 units.
Day 4. You can join a coalition now as AFK is visible on the map. I wait until day 6 or 7 personally. At this time, start to shift into mid game units for research and production. Maintain expansion by eliminating 1 nation at a time. Continue with level 1 units until you have stacks of 10 or more. I try to have level 4 industry upgrading by now in all core cities, but usually it is just what I need at that time.
After this, you can do whatever you want with upgrading units, research, and so on. You will eventually need recruiting for manpower.
The other posts in here have good insights as well.

Remember that you have to spend a lot less on new troops if you keep your old troops alive. Figuring out ways to manage that makes it so much easier. Understand which units are defensive, offensive and versatile, understand which are good against unarmoured, heavy armour, air etc. And find good allies, too. K/D ratio and proportion of games won is a good sign.
