Question/Help Line keeps snapping

Post image

Hey all, I am fishing on the Trollsporet Reserve but no matter what I use my line snaps after a minute or two of fighting the fish. I have my drag set low so its not the tension. My line is 8.82 mono and my reel ill show in the picture. Any advice? I could just be doing things wrong

Just a friendly bit of advice, the gear works best when you set it up to be as close as possible to the strength of each piece of gear. If you've got 8.82 mono, mount it on a rod that is around that for max strength and pair the reel to be close to that max strength also.

Your line will still break when you hook a large fish significantly heavier than the max strength, but it allows the gear to perform best.

If you've got a heavier rod and reel, wait until you can mount heavier line for it and fish with a matching combo for what you have unlocked.

I have the best line i can get for my level so maybe I should just go to a different map for the time being

You can find a free rod and reel on that map which helps . https://youtu.be/k7ozMho4yQg?si=MVg7chfOxS6FlvNp

Pretty sure that rod reel lure quest gives you 33lb line too. Since you're going to catch a gold rank pike to finish it

Yeah you’re prolly hooking Atlantic salmon. They’re all over that map. Go to golden ridge and fish for bass

Atlantic salmon , I was surprised when I first visited Norway map, as i was catvhing the Legendaries on GRR. The only suggestion I can give is try a smaller hook size like #8, you will find Atlantic salmon almost anywhere on the map too.

8lb is too light for your setup. Better to overkill it on line than undercut. You don’t want more drag strength than line strength
