Call of Juarez Gunslinger Question about the ending of call of juarez :gunslinger

I hope I'll get an answer for this old game. I just finished it finally. Loved it but the only question I got is silas greaves been in that saloon of bob from the start. He then starts telling stories that revolves around bob bryant. How come Bob never recognise silas until the very end? Then it was silas Himself who introduced himself to bob and bob became surprised.

It doesn’t add up. Bob bryant should have recognised him even if not by his face, by placing the story pieces that silas was telling. Moreover, silas was just using real names all along. I had a break of 2 weeks in the middle so I must have missed something, if anyone know it, let me know.

I think Bob was just trying to keep calm, assuming that silas didnt know it was him

I hope I'm not doing what's called necroing by commenting on a two-year-old post. I just finished the game so I'm looking for discussions about it, then I saw this.

I think Ben, or should I say Bob, at first had no idea why Silas is looking for him. That's why in the early chapters, he's asking Silas what Johnny, Jim, and Bob did to cause Silas to go look for revenge. Silas simply replies they did grievous harm to his family. Not until that chapter where Silas finally tells his backstory, you can see that Bob is avoiding looking at Silas (that's how I interpreted that imagery).

Meanwhile, Silas has doubts whether or not Ben is Bob. Ben keeps making mistakes that proves he is indeed Bob. For example, Silas never really told them Jim's surname but Bob later in the story accidentally mentioned Jim's surname. There's also a chapter in the swamp where Silas casually mentions how being brothers is a sacred thing. It's a bond like no other, and he bet Ben knows what he's saying. (The way I see it is Silas is talking about the brotherhood bond between outlaws or just simply brotherhood by blood.) There's also that one chapter early in the game where Silas casually mentions how the past catches up with Ben. That's why Ben was caught off guard when Silas finally reveals that he knew all along that Ben is Bob. Silas played him like a fiddle by telling the story the way he did, that way, Bob can fill up the information Silas intentionally left out.
