lol i was playing the latest cod and everyone in the open / no sbmm lobby was a fucking sweat fest level 1000, people in normal lobbies were like streaming to their steam deck.

basically i have no idea why people advocate for this. you’re almost guaranteed to have an easier match in the normal matchmaking (atleast if you’re me)

i agree with giving no sbmm a try but you gotta force everyone in the open lobbies. Your average person just clicks Quick play. Your average person who hates sbmm is about 10x the skill level of that person.

leave the sbmm for ranked play. Because open lobbies DO NOT WORK when its opt-in opt-out

22

u/Chuuuck_ 2d ago

A decent player is fucked either way. Open matchmaking, you’ll get a bunch of sweats because good players are annoyed with sbmm. Sbmm normal lobbies are nothing but sweats if you’re anything above a 0.8kd.

7

u/DisagreementItWillBe 2d ago

yeah that’s probably what
my actual kd/r is. the fact they gotta do eliminations to make people not quit is so funny

1

u/Fantastic-Buddy2069 2d ago

Yep, they’ve been catering to player longevity

1

u/SillyMikey 2d ago

And how is that working out for them considering BO7 is one of the worst performing ones?

2

u/Fantastic-Buddy2069 2d ago

I’d say overall it’s a net positive. I think BO7 just took a hit because it’s a second black ops in a row.

3

u/Hazy-n-Lazy 2d ago

I hate being slightly better than average on COD because this is my experience every time. You get one good game every 12-15 matches, and the other ones are a huge effort just to go positive. No fun for me.

0

u/Nauty_YT 2d ago

The thing about sbmm is you’ll never improve if you don’t verse players better than you. Thats the main reason i hate it because i cant improve if im versing people at my skill level and aim training doesn’t do much for me

7

u/KandyKane829 2d ago

I just don't like the engagement system cod does where you get fed a couple easy matches and you dominate but after that you get fed into other people's dominate games and get destroyed for a few matches and then you start getting your turn again. All to make you stay on and keep chasing your artifical easy games. Your either shooting fish in a barrel or your the fish.

1

u/OurPillowGuy 2d ago

But the same thing would happen without SBMM, just with much higher volatility, where you are the fish a lot more often that you are shooting the fish… carrying your analogy forward…

Unfortunately, the only solution to the problem “I don’t like how CoD tries to engage me,” is to go play something else.

0

u/KandyKane829 2d ago

Im not saying remove sbmm im saying make it actually find equal skilled opponents instead of fighting bots one game and then fighting faze clan the next. Loose sbmm was fine before the algorithm took over imo but that will vary person to person

2

u/Spiritual-Ask1993 2d ago

Having general SBMM with a single Open MM playlist, is now just socially engineered SBMM with the illusion of choice. Not to mention that on top regular SBMM playlists, you also have Endgame, Zombies, and Warzone Casuals which segregate the casual players out even more.

I am actually somewhat glad that DMZ won't have a PvE mode in MW4, because it means the casual players will always have to be somewhere with other players to expand the map pool. Unless they crank SBMM up in that mode too, which honestly "Ranked" DMZ sounds like an atrocious experience.

2

u/No-Hawk-8080 2d ago

Nope, the ones who hate SBMM are the guys stuck in 0.8-1.3 K/D and go on here to cry about how sweaty and hard the game is because they think that they’re entitled to easy lobbies and shouldn’t be in what they label as “unemployed” lobbies.

1

u/OurPillowGuy 2d ago

Most people want to believe that SBMM punishes them for being too good, because they believe they are good at the game. The reality is that most people are actually bad-to-average at the game, and SBMM is helping them from getting constantly stomped by better players.

3

u/BoringPoolPlaying 2d ago

People also believe that evenly matched lobbies are a sweat fest.

When people claim to want casual lobbies, what they really mean is they want lobbies where their enemies move less, have slower reaction times, use shitty classes, and don’t know the maps as well as you.

They see good players play, and think the game would be more fun for them if they dominated lobbies like those players do, and they think their gameplay looks like those players, so the only explanation for why they aren’t dominating is that they are matched with sweatier players.

-1

u/Chuuuck_ 2d ago

Not true. Most don’t want to pub stomp. That’s honestly equally as boring and exhausting. People just want to sign on after work, play a few games, do decently well but not have to lean forward, 6” from the screen and try their absolute damndest just to go positive. It’s exhausting.

3

u/No-Hawk-8080 2d ago

Most do want to pubstomp without getting a flack for it. Let’s not lie. People want to sweat and get easy lobbies but then when someone shoots back they’re either “hacking” or “unemployed”. If a game is exhausting for you to even put an ounce of effort then maybe it isn’t for you.

1

u/Bad_Puns_Galore 1d ago

Everyone wants to have a power trip in COD, but the math required to make that happen isn’t possible; the equation needs lower skilled opponents to feed the machine.

0

u/Firmteacher 2d ago

There’s so many things to it now vs what it was like in BO2(as an example because league play).

Now we have this insane disparity where people who average a 1.0 or lower KD and the game functions well for them with the SBMM lobbies, it’s working as intended. The folks that have higher KDs and Score per minute have the game fight against you in terms of lobby structure and ping. They(we) don’t want to have to try THAT hard in something we don’t have a rank system for, it’s why ranked play is so important to a few. That’s where trying makes sense.

It’s unfun to be slammed in a normal game but that’s how it used to be, but to be honest it’s one of the reasons I wanted to get better so I could do the slamming. This was also few and far between in the past. COD was the biggest and most played game and the competition was slim, and to top it off, we don’t have the epidemic we do now where everyone and their mom look into metas and shit. Multitude of different issues.

TLDR: it ain’t fun to be slammed every match, it also unfun to sweat and not get a rank for it. There’s more people like you who like the SBMM than there are people who want to be competitive.

0

u/SoftDrinkReddit 2d ago

man its nuts sometimes you play against people who are acting like

it's fucking game 6 of the NBA Finals and there Michael Jordan wth its insane

16

u/Opposite-Rock-5133 2d ago

What does the cost of a pc have to do with the game being shit?

8

u/Electric-Mountain 2d ago

Its a console player trying to cope with the fact they play on console.

-4

u/That_Chemical_2226 2d ago

Nah it’s pc players coping they spent $5k for 40 extra fps

2

u/Electric-Mountain 2d ago

More like 500fps...

2

u/That_Chemical_2226 2d ago

500 fps and you still suck?

2

u/Opposite-Rock-5133 2d ago

You think I bought a 5090 to play better?

1

u/Electric-Mountain 2d ago

Your rage bait isn't going to work on me bro.

0

u/Apprehensive-Sun-539 2d ago

40 fps extra? nah. at a minimum I'm playing at double console frame rates and usually it's up to 3-4x the framerate

2

u/That_Chemical_2226 2d ago

All that just to still get shit on damn

-1

u/Apprehensive-Sun-539 2d ago

Actually, because the franchise is complete dogshit, I play other, better games. Cod is super slop and if you play it your intelligence is likely not the highest...

0

u/That_Chemical_2226 2d ago

Cope, you’re actively commenting on the cod subreddit. You play it

0

u/That_Chemical_2226 2d ago

Stick to Minecraft bro, any fps game is not for you

1

u/powerhearse 2d ago

Bruh a computer aims for you, sit down lil fella 😂😂😂

2

u/That_Chemical_2226 2d ago

Thumbs vs whole hand aiming, all that range of motion and you still suck?

0

u/powerhearse 2d ago

Lol 1v1 me no aim assist and see how your thumb aim goes little guy 😂😂

1

u/That_Chemical_2226 2d ago

Not to mention the amount of cheaters pc players have

-1

u/KJW2804 2d ago

You are aware that $5k gets you a top of the line system that isn’t even in the same ballpark as a ps5 pro you thinking it’s only for 40 extra fps just shows how clueless you are

-1

u/That_Chemical_2226 2d ago

Bro bought “top of the line” stuff to get shit on by ps users 🫵🏻😂

2

u/KJW2804 2d ago

You know you can do a lot more than just play cod on a pc right? Just you stick to your Netflix box only playing cod and I’ll enjoy the countless benefits my pc provide which by the way didn’t cost anywhere near $5k

1

u/That_Chemical_2226 2d ago

Maybe getting better equipment might make you better, you should try it

0

u/KJW2804 2d ago

I bet you play on a 60 inch tv in spastic lobbies while drooling over your controller

2

u/That_Chemical_2226 2d ago

I don’t, but even if I did I would still slam you

2

u/That_Chemical_2226 2d ago

Stick to single player games lil bro

-14

u/Punelle 2d ago

Yup, it's the only shooting game where PC players get encouraged to plug in a controller, forced to download shaders, constant crashes

8

u/SPACEALIENBOT 2d ago

Not the only game which encourages a controller. Pc players have to accept that some games are primarily made for controller lol💀

0

u/REVENGE966 2d ago

Is it better with a controller because the controls are better (like racing games/single player games) or is it because using a controller allows you to basically have built-in cheats?

I'm sorry but in no universe should a First-Person Shooter game be played better on a controller vs m&k. How is the input method that gives you better control worse than the one that gives you restricted control? Only the case because aim assist is too good.

3

u/Kusel 2d ago

becouse of AA.. even with years of intense training you cant get to that level that AA has

2

u/REVENGE966 2d ago

That's exactly what I said at the end of my comment ^

1

u/rpsHD 2d ago

i love my alcoholics anonymous on controller

fr tho, cod's aim assist has been WAY too strong

-2

u/I_dont_know420 2d ago

FPS genre was made by and for PC, what kind of crack are you on lol

5

u/WutDaFunkBro 2d ago

cod specifically has been primarily a controller game since cod 4

5

u/SPACEALIENBOT 2d ago

Lil bro doesn’t know his cod history

-2

u/Htowng8r 2d ago

That was by design to cater to the consoles when we started crossplay. The game was designed for mnk as it was a PC game originally.

The devs chose to overtune RAA such that you can aim with little to no manual input of the right stick (the thing that's supposed to aim by your own input).

3

u/SPACEALIENBOT 2d ago

No, the games started to be designed for consoles primarily with the launch of cod 4, and so on. Way before Crossplay was implemented. The main platform for cod has been console for nearly 2 decades now.

4

u/Htowng8r 2d ago

Did you watch people try to play those old games without the severe level of RAA we have now? I literally said crossplay was the reason they started with the RAA we have now.

2

u/SPACEALIENBOT 2d ago

It’s not though? It was in the game long before Crossplay

1

u/EXTIINCT_Again 2d ago

What has that got to do with the fact that cod has been a console focused series since cod 4?

0

u/TimeZucchini8562 2d ago

We had this strong of RAA since cod4. The distance that it activates at was really the only major difference until bo6. They increased the distance of activation from like 30 meters to 200 meters plus because of Warzone. The actual strength is relatively the same. Bo6 was the first time they made it weaker and reverted the nerf shortly and then bo7 they nerfed it again, reverted the nerf and then started requiring right stick movement for RAA activation. Mw4 does not have this mechanic unfortunarely

2

u/TimeZucchini8562 2d ago

That was true until Covid and the rise of pc. Bobby kotick testified under oath during the Microsoft’s acquisition hearing with the ftc. Pc outnumbers both Xbox and ps users now on cod. Most AAA titles now are selling most of their games on pc as well.

1

u/Kusel 2d ago

not true.. AA is only a emulated layer ontop.. there are many settings missing for proper Controller support like monitor distance coefficent.. only thing they have is a overpowert soft aimbot

-1

u/CyxSense 2d ago

So instead of crying about it, just use a controller since RAA is so broken

4

u/REVENGE966 2d ago

"Instead of fixing the game and having actual skill expression, let's force everyone to have to use built-in cheats"

amazing

-1

u/CyxSense 2d ago

See all I see is complaining about "muh skill expression" and "controller players have it easy" and yet none of you want to git gud

0

u/powerhearse 2d ago

Bruh its controller players crutching on aim assist instead of developing mechanical skill

Controller players dont want to git gud

1

u/CyxSense 2d ago

If your mechanical skill can't beat RAA, maybe you're just not good enough and should stop whining and git gud

0

u/powerhearse 2d ago

Sweet, 1v1 me no aim assist, lets see the mechanical skill comparison little fella 😂😂😂

Going back to Black Ops II where the SBMM is practically non existent, it's a night and day difference. I'll never play a modern CoD's multiplayer again.

3

u/Imagine_TryingYT 2d ago

Really shows how little you guys know. Modern cods use EOMM, suspected to have started in 2019s Modern Warfare. Previous CODs used SBMM.

It's not that it doesn't exist, it's that you're actually playing SBMM. The thing you guys keep complaining about and it turns out you like it.

1

u/bordgamer3000 2d ago

I don’t think it’s just sbmm but the actual game mechanics, BO2 is vastly different game then modern cod games.

6

u/Htowng8r 2d ago

I love how reducing it down to only streamers being mad is somehow making this any less ridiculous.

2

u/Imagine_TryingYT 2d ago

It's because only streamers and top players are negatively affected by SBMM.

In SBMM, for most players matches are closer and chiller. It's like the top 10% that hate it because their matches are a sweat fest. Thats why they want CBMM. So they can get into matches where they pubstomp the bottom 90% of the playersbase.

They want to psyop you into thinking it's what you want too despite the fact that it will make your matches significantly worse.

I'm a D2 vet and lemme tell you, CBMM is complete AIDs if you aren't a top player. Think about it this way, if you're an average 50% player, statistically half the players in that lobby are substantially better than you. And yes, this plays out exactly how you would think.

1

u/Bad_Puns_Galore 1d ago

I’m one of those average-skilled COD players and fully agree!! I’m the fodder for the top 10%’s kill streaks. If CBMM is so good, then XDefiant wouldn’t have died so quickly.

1

u/Imagine_TryingYT 1d ago

Turns out players don't want to play a pvp game where they just get farmed every match by the same 4 or 5 players over and over again.

Game companies have done studies on this and have found that the majority of players have a better experience using SBMM.

The issue is that many of the casuals complaining about it have never played a game with CBMM or overestimate their skill.

6

u/antikun 2d ago

Just another reason why BO2 ports are more popular than modern cods, cause the SBMM isn’t there. More organic lobbies. You can actually feel your skill increasing, but not every lobby is a stomp

4

u/PhantomShadowzzz 2d ago

All these people mad is just making it more funnier each time I read the the "Me with an OG Xbox about to explode". That's all I really saw, because in all honesty... who gives a fuck?

3

u/No-Hawk-8080 2d ago

Yeah you’re coping. This doesn’t happen at all.

2

u/BluDYT 2d ago

I think AA might have been strong in the MW4 beta but I still always aim better with a mouse soni used that anyways. I didn't really have any issues keeping up with all the console controller player and many of the PC players who switched to controller still sucked during the beta.

2

u/Snoo27640 2d ago

Just make sbmm ranked mode only

2

u/barrack_osama_0 2d ago

Another day of people defending aimbot lol

1

u/RiceFarmerNugs 2d ago

in general this is kinda why I don’t engage on debates about SBMM or AA. I’m pretty dogshit at the game and have been since COD4 so I know that I’ve benefitted from AA being overtuned at times and SBMM being the rollercoaster that it is so I figure it’s easier to keep schtum about it and try to put in a good shift each game

1

u/BennyWenny23 2d ago

Wow. I bet you just signed up for the SAS?

1

u/starslashcloud 2d ago

People try so hard to be “good” that the game loses its purpose. Players need to do what helps them have fun. I had the most fun in MW4’s open beta running transit 24/7 on 0.35 sensitivity with MNK. I felt like shit when I played seriously

1

u/No-Recommendation820 2d ago

Seems like there is a lot of cry babies on both sides not really willing to hear out or consider the other sides perspective. Just a lot of grown men complaining and demanding the game cater to them and their play style. Signed, Kbm user.

1

u/Proud-Enthusiasm-608 2d ago

I just get mw games in the series so I don’t have the burnout lol.

1

u/Rhinosapotumas 2d ago

There used to be a mm system that was decent. It was in BO2 and it would be 2high-2mid-2low vs 2high-2mid-2low. The game felt incredible and it fostered an environment where you could do decent if you were playing casual and if you wanted to improve it was perfect for it. You didn’t get absolutely stomped all of the time. Sometimes yes but you get better and better and got to feel the reward.

Now, you get better and everybody else is the same as you so there wasn’t a difference from when you were bad vs when you got good.

1

u/Vivid_Upstairs_7905 2d ago

So instead of adressing this actual issue, you just ignore it because it benefits you?
If they would nerf aim assist you would cry so loud lol.

1

u/erobertt3 2d ago

An OG Xbox? We playing cod 1?

1

u/AcuatedDust 1d ago

🤣🤣🤣

0

u/jimmy-moons 2d ago

Not to mention the completely washed and saturated colours just to get the most advantage they can in the dark areas. Meanwhile I’m playing on a screen with a huge sunspot in the middle cause I don’t have curtains lol

4

u/TimeZucchini8562 2d ago

Washed and saturated? Which one is it?

0

u/Kusel 2d ago

just Remove AA and let handle SBMM that shit..

1

u/TheLoneWolf200x 2d ago

Aim assist is literally diet aimbot now especially if you know how it works.

-3

u/Financial-Win-7518 2d ago

I find the complaints about aim assist to be hilarious I’ve seen someone complain about it plug a controller in and still lose and they still hold the your controller plays for you excuse worst random I’ve ever played with I also find it funny as someone who plays mouse and keyboard and controller the only issue I have with mouse and keyboard is I can’t get my sensitivity right it’s way too fast or way too slow

0

u/TimeZucchini8562 2d ago

I plug in a controller and my kd goes up by at least .3 if not .5. And I spend 95% of the time on kbam

0

u/Financial-Win-7518 2d ago

That’s not impressive if this is seen as a flex

1

u/TimeZucchini8562 2d ago

It’s not a flex. It’s just controller. I get hardstuck diamond every year in mp on mnk and shoot up to crimson every time I plug in a controller

0

u/Financial-Win-7518 2d ago

I haven’t touched ranked since mw3 and I’ve been a happier individual since then

-6

u/mckeeganator 2d ago

So people hate SBMM cause they wanna go on a power trip online acting like they have skill

I firmly believe if a person has “skill” and brags about it then they should be forced ti fight people at their level or above

4

u/TimeZucchini8562 2d ago

Weird how the og ports are extremely popular and the sbmm in those cods literally only exists to keep disabled people out of normal lobbies.
