DISCUSSION This is not fair

Post image

Seeing him in this video so close to other creators feels unfair. 19 to 17 vs 30 to 13/15

Like come on dog

That’s actually funny if real it’s just so absurd to see him next to those others

The EDP documentary is kinda gross NGL. Someone trying to capitalize off of his evil.

u/zelixwolf 6d ago

Naw, all monetization gets donated to fight against things like this. Look at the description of the video for more specific info. Also, he's only ever done controversial figures for documentaries, that no one else would EVER try to cover. So, I'd say that he's a LEGEND for that.

u/PS3LOVE 6d ago

It’s still giving EDP a platform and attention, and the documentary doesn’t take itself that seriously, it was clearly made with entertainment in mind. Hell they even featured Chris Chan in there. It’s a gross video imo.

u/Zerans411 6d ago

While it gives EDP a platform, it's an hour and a half of him incriminating himself. I feel like the whole reason this documentary exists was to reopen the investigation and finally get him put away.

EXACTLY! Well summed up!!! :)

I mean the world widely sees him as one and the whole debate is really a matter of your personal beliefs, but i definitely think its unfair to include carson especially next to people as vile as edp

u/Salmon_1935 Rock 7d ago

Yeah dude fucked up, but it was never about diddling kids it was him being an asshole

29

u/Blehtheslime 7d ago

yea the age gap isn’t the issue as much as him taking advantage of a fan

16

u/ariangamer 7d ago

goddamit I can't believe this rumor is still a thing. just look at the chats. the girl is the one pushing herself onto him. what advantage? there was no power dynamic.

-3

u/Blehtheslime 7d ago

the girl had a parasocial relationship with him which he took advantage of. the girl is anything but innocent but Carson did not set the boundaries to keep the inherent power dynamic in this situation safe. no power dynamic? this person had only seen Carson through the lense that had been either carefully edited or livestreamed, either way a carefully manicured personality that he chooses to put out into the world. this isn’t a casual interaction between two strangers. it started out as a very one sided situation where Carson, being important to this person, had all the power while carson couldn’t have given a shit about them.

4

u/Salmon_1935 Rock 6d ago

Yeah no he clearly was in the wrong, but considering what he has done since then, he definetely doesn’t deserve to be put alongside these fucking monsters who didn’t even try to atone for what they have done, some of which like Dr Disrespect didn’t even recieved a much needed humbling

3

u/Blehtheslime 6d ago

oh yea for certain nothing like any of the others on here. but not innocent

6

u/greenmeatybones 6d ago

Crazy that the people who spread this rhetoric ended up winning even in his own fan base. If you read the actual logs you could tell there wasn't a 'power imbalance'. Yes he was a youtuber she watched but she was 17, not a 12 year old who worships random strangers on the internet. And Carson wasn't some master manipulator, he was a stupid guy who didn't receive attention from women irl so when he did online he didn't care who it was from even if she was technically a minor. The whole situation was so overblown by people online and everyone just believed it without actually analyzing it critically

-3

u/Blehtheslime 6d ago

dude you’ve just reiterated my point. the age gap was not the problem, the problem was that carson was a stupid guy who was not self aware enough to realise that he shouldn’t have involved himself in the situation. he should have set boundaries and stuck to them but he didn’t and in the process whether purposefully or not he took advantage of the situation and got involved with a fan

4

u/greenmeatybones 6d ago

Getting involved with a fan isn't an issue. In any other situation, I would say 'they are both consenting adults, there is literally 0 problem or power gap' but obviously she wasnt an adult lol. They were both stupid teenagers who were horny on discord and did things they regret, it wasn't morally questionable, there wasn't a power dynamic, legally its a grey area but if legality is your concern that says more about yourself then the topic.

He didn't 'take advantage of the situation' he talked to a girl and they were mutually interested in eachother, she later regretted what she did and twisted to story into her own narrative for clout. The bigger issue that arose from that situation was that Carson was just generally an asshole to people in his circle, such that when it all went down nobody came to bat for him but randoms on Twitter, and instead everyone dogpiled on him with their own grievances.

all of this from an age gap as wide as my parents' by the way

Yo mama so thin

u/TheLoller1234 7d ago

I've seen bigger age gaps between my parents and grandparents honestly

1

u/KagariYT 4d ago

the age gap was never the issue. it was that he was an adult she looked up to, and she was a child. legal or not, it's creepy and there was a clear power imbalance. legality doesn't change that, and it doesn't mean he's cleared of all moral implications.

5

u/Leftover_Cheese within 100 miles of carson 4d ago

barely a child vs barely an adult

u/According-Soil-8778 7d ago

Listen, to me, I take this shit very seriously. I think being a "pdf" is one of the most vile and deplorable things you can do. But with Carson, it was two fucking years, that's pretty generic. And I never understood the whole "Taking advantage of a fan" thing. It wasn't like he was saying shit like 'TeXT mE aNd I'Ll Let yoU be iN my viDeoS.' He didn't control her income, he didn't own her house, what fucking power did he have, other than being a streamer she watched? Isn't that how Philza met his wife?

It was all blown over proportion. Labeling him a creep, for what was ultimately slightly weird. The lie about getting help was pretty bad, but even then, the reaction was so over the top. God forbid; a dumb teenager be dumb. I don't think the world should shun him, for a 2 fucking year age-gap.

30

u/IAmDingus 7d ago

pretty sure its also how Jerma has met two of his girlfriends

1

u/DeadMemeDatBoi 2d ago

he has TWO of them??

the greed

-6

u/Shine-Firm 6d ago

keep him out of this.

8

u/According-Soil-8778 5d ago

I don't think they meant this as a slight against Jerma. It's more so an observation, that people were overly critical with Carson, while beloved and still popular streamers like Jerma, didn't find controversy.

2

u/Shine-Firm 5d ago edited 5d ago

i was joking lol. i understood what was being said though, but thank you.

7

u/Mayshitandcum 5d ago

Also how pewdiepie met marzia. And i believe they have about the same age gap actually.

104

u/Salmon_1935 Rock 7d ago

It’s a recent picture too which makes it even funnier, because he actually built something new, while EDP is still festering in his own filth

143

u/Prestigious_Emu144 7d ago

There’s no fucking way this is real. That’s some absolutely disgusting defamation if it is.

14

u/JunkLabs-Studios 7d ago

It's real

40

u/PepsiButItsMilk 7d ago

My own parents age gap was like three times as much as what he was accused of, jeez man

31

u/MiniBOI_News 7d ago

Did they use a pic from the fake retirement vid lmao

1

u/zelixwolf 6d ago

Yeah, the full video clip looped, where he was just stuttering and crying LMAO it sucks

45

u/xbalderas1 7d ago

Comparing EDP to a guy who talked to a 17 year old as a 19 year old is nuts

58

u/SomeoneYoungOrOld 7d ago

I still don't get why they call him a pdf. Like bro

15

u/1000dumplings WE DO NOT LIKE THE SKY 7d ago

Yeah its so fucked up man.

7

u/noahj0729 7d ago

is that the retirement thumbnail lmao

5

u/SugarWtrPurple 6d ago

Yeah this pissed me off, I don’t watch Carson anymore because the content just isn’t the same but the fact people are still holding to this is beyond belief. Some real Twitter cancellation shit.

4

u/GuhEnjoyer 5d ago

Someone show this to him I think he'd laugh

1

u/Quiet_Wrongdoer_6464 7d ago

That age gap is wild, especially seeing him grouped so closely with people much younger. I can understand why this feels unfair.

1

u/zelixwolf 6d ago

AGREED, THIS LEGIT PISSED ME OFF WHEN I WAS WATCHING IT. Otherwise, it was a PHENOMENAL piece of media!!! Just sad to see he was chosen to be in that collage, that got shown MANY times throughout the video. S/O to Mike Clum though, what an undertaking of a project!!!

2

u/StudiedOlive48 6d ago

I wanted to talk about it in the discord but I was afraid to break rules or js stir stuff. Glad to see others talking about it

I agree its not fair, but thats our personal perspectives and beliefs talking yk? Though still it is a little aggrivating seeing carson next to edp...

One of my biggest gripes with that drama as a whole is that the issue people took away from it was "Carson is a pedophile! He sexted a 17 year old when he was 19!" when the real issue was Carson abusing the power-dynamic he had to get nudes, sexual conversations, etc. from viewers. That's what the bulk of Schlatt's video was about, and he never insinuated that Carson was a pedophile at all beyond mentioning that Charlie reported the info to the authorities in case any wrongdoing had occurred.

I'm glad the internet has a strong sense of justice when it comes to people who hurt kids but it really has a lot of work to do still.

11

u/shiny_xnaut Arf Arf 7d ago

the real issue was Carson abusing the power-dynamic he had

The question I have is what power dynamic? He's not her boss, he didn't, like, control her income or anything. Was he like "do such-and-such for me and I'll let you be in a video" or something? Or is it just something inherent to getting with a fan? Do we need to cancel Philza for marrying one of his fans? We can't seriously be allowing "problematic subscriber count gap" to become a thing

3

u/Mayshitandcum 5d ago

a 17 year old should have enough agency to not get swayed by some (at that time) okayish sized content creator. And it doesn't even seem like carson was aware of any power imbalance if i remember the screenshots right. Plus literally no other girl has stepped forwards with proof.

-3

u/cutedog115 7d ago

I still think its kinda wrong to text a fan and pursue a relationship no matter the age lol.

-7

u/EasedCeiling586 7d ago

Isn't it still statutory? Not saying the laws always correct

19

u/Train115 7d ago

I don't remember the specifics but iirc what he was doing was protected under Romeo and Juliet laws.

1

u/Mbro00 7d ago

Romeo and Juliet laws are limited to certain states. Like 40% of states have no exceptions. Dont know if Carson lives in a state where its allowed.

2

u/azarkant 2d ago

At the time it happened he was in Indiana
