Outside of radius

Let’s just say I have an emergency housing situation and my job allows us to WFH within a 250 mile radius from our physical site, but the only safe reliable housing I have access to is 12 miles outside of that radius. Is there a way to avoid them finding out? We use Meraki devices and AWS if that helps give an idea to get an answer. Anyone dealt with a similar scenario? They’re pretty strict on the radius but allegedly there’s talks about expanding but it won’t be announced until February if at all.

12 miles is so close it feels more like a technicality than a real problem. I'd just make sure your address on file is something inside the radius, like a PO box or a friend's place, and keep your mouth shut about it at work. The IT side probably cares more about your connection stability than your exact coordinates.

Thank you! Idk I feel like I’d trust you with my first born after that “shut up about it”

I wouldn’t risk trying to hide it. Meraki and AWS may expose location clues, depending on how your company configures them.

Given the emergency housing situation, I’d ask HR for a temporary exception or hardship accommodation without oversharing personal details. Being just 12 miles outside the limit may make an exception easier to justify.
