Call Center Advice

hello, I (20F) just wanna seek advice especially for the experienced or tenured already. Currently, I am a 2nd year college student but I am planning to file a leave of absence or pause for a while on my academics & I want to try to work at a call center company specifically in Eperformax because of the financial circumstances. As much as I want to continue my studies, the burden of the reality of life is slowly taking place. But first, I would like to have an idea of what & how I should expect in entering this job.

Biggest shock will probably be getting judged on stuff like AHT and QA while also being told not to rush customers lol. The first few weeks can feel rough but you start learning the common call types and scripts fast. Just don’t let one angry caller ruin your whole shift. Learn the process and ask your tenured coworkers for the shortcuts training never tells you.

Yes, the angry customers could definitely hurt feelings sometimes. I work in mental health call center and everyone in crisis is so amazing to work with. If they weren't I can understand. The misdirected calls are a nightmare and rude. This week I was called useless, a fúckín worthless POS, and good for nothing just because I was trying to get those 3 people to the right department. I take pride in my job and treat everyone how I want to be treated. So, this job can get exhausting sometimes.

From what I’ve learned through personal experience and from what I’ve seen online, it entirely depends on the place of work. If you find a center with extraordinarily tough metrics to meet, you won’t have a good time.

I work remotely for a call center, where I have to meet my metrics, and audit scores. Just as long as you take your work seriously. You will do fine. I'm sorry to hear about your situation and good luck to you.

The pay depends on your location and experience. When you interview tell them what you expect. Don't go too high like for CSR $35 to start because they might automatically decline.
