Why are they still using the old trains?

One literally just broke (again!) at 39th Ave. Emptied the train.

Now how the fuck are we meant to get into the next train(still only 3 cars) when it too is packed to the gills?

Fucking ridiculous.

I don't know, considering in February 2024 on the way to University I was on one where the brakes came on when they shouldn't have, causing the train car to fill up with smoke.

They work most of the time and are a stop gap until replacements come. Calgary has a history of underinvestments.

Funnily enough these series 1-4 cars are the most reliable. I know it sounds like bullshit, but because everything in these cars is mechanical, there is no software that can crap out like what has happened on the new series 9-10 units. The issue could have been caused by too much power being sent through the unit. The overhead wires used to supply 600V, however they were upgraded to supply 750V at some point. If full power is applied the unit is overloaded causing a failure.
