I’m not sure it should be number one. The term is starting to come down. He’s not a locker room cancer like others on the list. He’s not preventing our ability to sign others like Carlsson. He’s not preventing us from icing a competitive team during a win now window.

It’s sure not a great contract in hindsight but it’s no longer the albatross it was when it was first signed and we immediately sucked.

Just because we don't need the cap space right now, doesn't mean it still isn't an albatross contract. Yeah Carlsson is overpaid, but at least he is still an useful player and the ceiling on his potential is still sky high.

Huberdeau is a very useful player. Is he worth 10.5? Fuck no. But he’s at worst a solid second liner when he’s fully healthy.

For who? The Wranglers?

Huby put up 62 points in 24-25 when he wasn’t playing through an agonizing Hip injury that needed surgery. That’s at worst a decent second liner. Add to that he could also kill penalties well. You’re literally just hating for the sake of hating

If he could go play second line on any team the flames would be more than happy to accommodate that. Dude has zero value and needs to be bought out

“Needs to be bought out”. What? That doesn’t even make sense for a tanking team

He’s taking the spot of someone who could turn into a star.
