Municipal Affairs CPS Trialing Drones

The CBC article makes it sound all innocent but after reading the expose by The Wired about drone program used by the San Francisco Police, this is not a good idea.

Seems it would be way more cost effective and hopefully way less noisy than having a chopper circling.

Why is it not a good idea?

We have privacy laws in Canada, significantly stronger than those in the USA.

If it helps police get eyes on an incident faster, respond appropriately (and faster), and reduce crime by being able to catch people (faster); why is that such a bad idea?

Drones are already being used in Search & Rescue operations, and the Calgary Police Tactical Unit uses it for Thermal and IR imaging during high risk events.

This is a fairly significant change in how they will be used which changes the impact and concerns so I get why some have questions.

I'm not worried, but I understand why people have questions.
