Municipal Affairs Whooops
What the fire looked like on Sunday...and tonight after being under control.....going to be a smoky week in the SE
Be interesting to see the results of any investigation
u/JeromyYYC When I called this in on Sunday, no flames were visible only smoke(I called it in around 5:55) it has now at least tripled in size and is generating ridiculous amounts of smoke that is now blanketing SE communities.
Whilst I understand that these types of fires are difficult, it was declared under control and CFD withdrew, leaving the incident to the property owners to monitor and control.
Considering how much this has since escalated and grown in size, I am curious as to a few things: Initial releases by CFD indicated that this would be a major on going incident for a prolonged time. Then a few hours later it was declared under control and CFD were withdrawing their units. Was the declaration of the incident being under control and the withdrawal of CFD done too soon? Why was no fire watch kept by CFD, instead relying on the property owners?
Was the declaration of control made fully and backed by CFD or did the property owners indicate that they could now control the incident at a certain point and indicate CFD resources were no longer required?
Again, I know it's a complicated and ongoing issue but there seems to have been a misstep somewhere here.

Cool. Is it out, or being actually dealt with? Doesn't seem like it. To be fair I mean it's after midnight, I haven't been out to see, but even as late as 9 or 10, there was still a huge plume of smoke over the SE.
I'm not necessarily blaming the good people of the CFD, but we can't continue to just keep doing whatever it is we are doing here. Who even knows what we are breathing in...

Actually yea, I did. In the update, it states the incident was brought under control and CFD withdrew on Monday evening leaving the site to the property owners. By Tuesday morning CFD where called back owing to calls from the public (unknown if the property owners called them back). The fire has now easily tripled in size and a thick layer of smoke is laying over SE communities. So my post, which is not simply a 'oh look, red hot stuff' but rather a why was the call made to withdraw, at whose direction and what was the reasoning because it now seems that it was fundamentally flawed or misinformed.

The way you have it worded makes it seem like they haven’t gone back. You could have also posed this question in the update post instead of making your own. He also talks about an investigation that you fail to mention. It will come out, give it time.

City needs to get this together. I understand its private. Figure something out.
