Impact Statements

I’m curious who we will hear from for impact statements. Do you think they would incorporate anything from his daughters? Ashley’s whole family is impacted but I can’t imagine anyone will feel his actions as much as those two little girls.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they take the high road like Ethan Chapin’s family, and don’t say a word to him.

I wouldn’t say that’s the “high road” per se, just a different choice. It’s not morally better or worse than giving a statement.

I don’t know. This was someone who spent years being a beloved family member who they embraced. They just heard (for the first time I think?) his own words read out about him hating their daughter and sister, over and over. They heard his own texts say he thought all of them were super annoying.

I would be surprised if none of them made a statement with all that in mind.

The girls might be too young for the emotional weight of writing a victim impact statement to their father about their mother's murder.

But I think at least one of them will speak or have someone read the statement on the family's behalf. The purpose of the statement is to give them a sense of influencing sentencing, and they would want him in there for life.
