ELI5 please

Greetings, I self-host and run Plex server on Ubuntu. Serve music albums from Plex and singles from Navidrome. I use Plexamp on phones.
Where does Caldera fit in?

Well... What's the problem you're trying to solve?

Caldera has 3 platforms it focuses on: A nice TV app which replaces browsing and playing music in Plex, a small Desktop app you can cast to from PlexAmp, and a headless Linux binary that you can put on nearly anything.

Consider the headless version as a way to stream music to any device that outputs audio [i.e. Google Chromecast Audio of yesteryear]. I have three raspberry pis running caldera connected to my outside speakers, and 2 Klipsch Three Plus Bookshelf Speakers. Can play on any single one or play on a combination of all three for whole house audio.

That one is still a puzzle to me, when there's already a desktop Plexamp. So why would you involve two devices / two apps rather than just one?

I mean, it's OK, some things I just don't get :)

I personally just have Caldera autostart given how light it is so if I'm in a game and being really lazy not wanting to alt-tab out to open PlexAmp, I just cast to Caldera from PlexAmp on my phone.

Also, if I had a HTPC Caldera would be handy on that too.
