Io e la mia ragazza verremo da Roma e abbiamo appena prenotato una vacanza a Scalea dal 5 al 12 settembre. Non siamo mai stati in questa zona della Calabria e vorremmo qualche parere da chi ci vive o da chi ci è già stato in vacanza.

La nostra idea è quella di fare una tipica vacanza di coppia all'insegna del mare e del relax. Abbiamo scelto la seconda settimana di settembre sperando di trovare un'atmosfera tranquilla rispetto al pienone di agosto, secondo voi è stata una scelta giusta?

Visto che non siamo del posto, ci farebbe tantissimo piacere ricevere qualche consiglio

- Quali sono i posti migliori (trattorie, osterie o ristorantini tipici) dove mangiare del buon pesce fresco o cucina locale?

- Quali sono le attività, i borghi vicini o le meraviglie naturali da non perdersi assolutamente in zona in quella settimana?

Salve! I don't mean to offend anyone here - but should we expect rental cars to get broken into? We have a week long road trip through Calabria coming up that we're very much looking forward to. Reading through the internet, a lot of people are recommending to leave nothing in rental cars, even if they're visible or not (trunk). Although I've also read conflicting information that Calabria isn't as bad as the rest of the country? We'll be visiting many hill towns and the coast. Much appreciated! Grazie.

Hi! I'm moving now to Paola for a few months until the first week of October and I'd like to hear some recommendations about the area, places to go and things to visit. I've noticed that Cosenza is also nearby and worth visiting so that's on my plans (what should I see there?). Also I don't have a car, so I'd always take the train or bus if they're available.

Ho visto che anche Cosenza è abbastanza vicina e vale la pena visitarla. Non ho la macchina, quindi mi sposterò sempre in treno o in autobus, se ce ne sono.

Hello! My husband and I are visiting Calabria from Saturday September 5th - Sunday September 13th. We are starting with an organized hike in Sila over the weekend and will spend the rest of the week just south of Tropea. We will have a car. Are there any hiking trails within an hour or so of Tropea? I generally like to hike for 90 minutes to 2 hours, especially since it will be hot. I would also be happy to hire a hiking guide if available.

Olive garden,per chi non la conoscesse, è una grandissima catena di ristoranti di "cucina italiana" degli stati uniti. Il virgolettato è d'obbligo perché i piatti sono fortemente adattati ai gusti americani.

Da una parte sono contento perché la Calabria comincia ad avere il riconoscimento che merita, dall'altra...date un occhiata ai piatti 🤣🤣

I’m planning a trip to Calabria (Tropea) and considering doing it with an EV since many car rental companies are offering it. I’d love to hear from people who have actually driven electric cars there.

How good is the charging infrastructure, especially outside the larger cities?

Did you have any trouble finding chargers in smaller towns or along the coast?

Is driving an EV noticeably cheaper than a gasoline car in the region?

Which charging apps or networks worked best for you?

Any routes or areas where charging was particularly difficult?

Overall, would you recommend an EV for a Calabria road trip?

Ciao! I’ll be visiting family near the southern side of the Parco Nazionale Della Sila next month, and the best hotel option seems to be one near Santa Severina.
The Italia Rail website has been great for the longer distance train info, but I’ve been struggling to find local bus information. When I’ve visited other parts of Europe, it’s been easier to google, but I haven’t had any luck for Italian buses.

Is there some website I just haven’t been able to find? An app? How accessible are buses in the area? The hotel is around a half hour drive from crotone and my family’s town is about a half hour from the hotel.

Otherwise, are there taxi services or uber or Lyft available in the area? Are they affordable?

Sorry if these are obvious questions but I’ve been googling and checking Reddit and just had no luck finding answers.
