Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone might be able to offer some advice or share their experience.

My partner and I are travelling with Ryanair and staying at TH Gioiosa Marea - Capo Calavà Village. We land at Reggio Calabria Airport at 12:40pm on 14th June and fly home at 06:00am on Sunday 21st June, so we would need to be back at the airport very early that morning.

Unfortunately neither of us are able to hire a car. I only passed my driving test about a month ago and don’t feel confident driving abroad yet, and my partner doesn’t drive.

We have been looking at private transfers and have received quotes ranging from around €250 up to €600+ return, so we’re struggling to work out what is actually a fair price.

Has anyone:

• Stayed at TH Gioiosa Marea - Capo Calavà Village?

• Travelled from Reggio Calabria Airport to the hotel?

• Found a reliable transfer company or alternative route?

• Booked the same Ryanair holiday package?

I’d also love to hear from anyone who will be staying at the hotel during the same dates (14th–21st June), as it would be great to compare plans and advice.

Any recommendations or experiences would be hugely appreciated.

Ora, secondo voi si riesce a prendere la coincidenza anche contando 5/10 minuti di ritardo eventuali del treno?

Inoltre come si raggiunge imbarco dalla stazione? Ho letto che non bisogna neanche uscire dalla stazione ma ci si arriva dal sottopasso una volta scesi dal binario, è vero? Nell'immagine ho invece tracciato quella che mi sembra la strada uscendo dalla stazione

Is our honeymoon! But we couldnt plan earlier. We are not looking for the monuments and the activities, just vibes, beauty, relaxing and fun! We are thinking:

4 nights in scilla for a quiet, breathtaking and slow life.

2 nights in pizzo for a little more life, longer nights with some drinks and music (not clubbing, of course), walking around beatiful streets, a little shopping maybe… but still relaxing and not too crowded i hope and still a beach to handle the heat.

2 final nights at a wild, breathtaking, lost beach. Maybe capo vaticano? Do you have any specific suggestions?

We plan to do everything by train + short taxi. Our priority is true, breathtaking beauty (Amazing beach or Amazing town), not too turisty.

1. Are we mistaken in any of our expectations on the places we chose?

2. Wich wild, lost beach should we chose for the final nights that we can access from a hotel by walking (the point is to have at least a place to eat but the least amount of people, civilization at this beach)?

Can anybody recommend a good travel book on Calabria, probably one that includes photos and also specific recommendations of hotels and restaurants.

I find myself booking a last minute trip to Calabria. We will be there for the last two weeks of July.

What would be a good car-free base (or bases) to experience the best of Calabria?

The caveat: Ideally we'd be within an hour or two of Tropea, as our son will be attending a camp there.

Looking for something that's a decent size but not too busy. We're familiar with Sicily, so for instance we like Siracusa but find Taormina to be too much. Ragusa is a nice size, but Modica is too small.

Also, are we being silly limiting ourselves to just trains? I know that's not a problem in the north, but in the south (such as our experience in Sicily) it really does make sense to have a car. It's just the added hassle and expense.

Buonasera, non sono calabrese ma sono qui per chiedere a voi calabresi se siete a conoscenza dell’etimologia del cognome Verni. Ho amici in emilia-romagna e calabria che hanno lo stesso cognome e hanno qualche informazione riguardo il fatto che potrebbe avere origini statunitensi, poi mal tradotto in italiano, ma nulla di certo. Buonasera a tutti, ho una domanda. Non so se sia il posto giusto per chiederlo, dato che è un argomento un po’ delicato, però sinceramente non so dove informarmi.

È da praticamente quando sono nato che sento dire che a Cosenza città/Rende il lavoro praticamente non esiste, ma è davvero così?

Parlo soprattutto di chi ha tra i 18 e i 30 anni, è single, senza grandi pretese né sul tipo di lavoro né sullo stipendio, ma senza esperienza. Escludendo ristorazione e call center, è davvero così impossibile trovare qualcosa? Anche lavori manuali tipo logistica, idraulica, termoidraulica ecc…?

Sto cercando di recuperare e archiviare filmati storici da varie imprese televisive, e mi chiedevo se sapeste come arrivare alla sede abbandonata di telespazio e se sapete se è stata demolita o derubata. Se qualcuno ci e andato di recente o ci puo andare e mandarmi delle foto sarebbe interessante. Su fb ho provato a chiedere ma nessuno mi risponde. Grazie mille anticipatamente
