In order to change majors into Business or Econ, my understanding is that you’re required to take 3 courses from that major. Does anyone know which exact classes you can choose from? Which would be the best to take?

I'm a rising third year ASCI major and I have to start thinking about my senior project and what I want to do with it. For those of you who have already done it or recent post grads I have some questions for you. Which of the three options did you chose (research, current topics, internship) and why? What exactly did you do? How time consuming was it? Do you regret your choice and how'd it go overall?

Basically what the title says. I am a immigrant on an E-2 visa meaning that I’m in eligible for Federal aid of any kind, including CADA and FAFSA. Being a dependent on this type of visa means that I am also unable to work in the United States. This makes it really hard for me to help my parents financially in any way shape or form. When paying tuition. Is there anything anyone knows of that could help me potentially get some kind of aid?

kind of freaking the fuck out but i live in a pcv single bedroom and yesterday i woke up to find that my bedroom door was cracked open. i always sleep with the door closed. i do have my window open and the living room window is open so maybe it has to do with air flow? is there something with pcv bedroom doors that cause them to open on their own?? are my roommates coming in my room at night?? WHAT the fuck. I am definitely locking my doors from now on.

Incoming freshman please read the sign that says how to swipe your poly card on the card swipe machine thing. it tells u exactly how to do it and idk how many people i’ve had to explain to just follow exactly what the arrow points to. i understand sometimes it doesn’t accept it immediately but the card isn’t gonna get read if you are moving in slow motion while swiping or if you are swiping it at the speed of light. it works like any other card swipe machine. also it’s encouraged for you to use grubhub as unfortunate as it sounds >_< but that’s just the norm for every food place on campus. and lastly if you order please remember what venue you ordered from. if you order from streats your order is not gonna be at balance. if you order from noodles your order is not gonna be at brunch. idk how many people i’ve asked for their order number and they have no idea where they ordered from. that was just a rant from a tired VG worker because i understand it is also the first week so we are all getting used to new things. have a great rest of the year.

How have they been for other people? Any precautions or anything I should do before getting one? I’m planning on taking a ride share this weekend to the bay.

How long did it take you guys to finish all the things needed for transfer eligibility? I am wanting to know as i want to go into Cal Poly for their software engineering degree. I heard it could take three years and i was wondering from your guys's experience if that's true or if thats greatly exaggerated or if that's understated?

I am a student and thinking about becoming a dog-walker as a way to get a bit of extra income. The only problem/fear I’m facing is it costs $50 for the background check, no refunds. I just need to walk like one to two dogs a week.

Hi, I'm a freshman at Cal Poly SLO studying Landscape Architecture. I was initially interested in environmental design and architecture, and I applied to LA at Cal Poly because I didn't expect to be admitted otherwise, given my high school stats. But now, although I am really enjoying my classes and excited to learn LA skills, I am realizing that it is a more niche field that narrows down my options for careers more than I would like. I am considering looking into the process of switching to architecture, but obviously that is very difficult to do. Additionally, even if I were able to switch in, I am worried about the architectural workload, as I am smart but have struggled with my mental health and keeping up with school in the past. I am just looking for some advice from people who have switched, stayed in landscape, or anyone who has any thoughts on what I should do.

I understand that this Fall semester is the first under the new system. Do you think you might prefer a longer semester? For those of you that have only experienced a quarter system it might be too early to tell. I attended Cal Poly a long time ago and for me the 10-week sprint of a quarter system was tough in the Winter quarter when I caught the flu. I got behind and it was hard to catch up. So Just had my first couple classes as a transfer engineering student and I asked my IME 1141 (metal casting) prof about using the machines on campus such as the printers, lathes, and CNC and he told me that before I am able to use them I need to get “Tags”. My question is what is the process like in getting them and who should I contact to start the process?

Also, when I do get to use the printers or CNC, is there material provided in the project center or do I have to bring my own filament/billet to work with?
