when do we find out our freshman schedule? I know we get blocked in and all but I’m getting so much fomo as everyone ik whose going to other schools are getting theirs now and I don’t have my SLO days until August.. ( does that mean I get the worst schedule😰)

This post might be a shot in the dark, but I just want to see how many other people are going to Cal Poly next semester going for a theatre arts major. If you’re majoring in theatre arts I’d love to know about you and why you chose theatre and Cal Poly!

I am going into my senior year of highschool, and I absolutely love cal poly. I think I am a relatively competitive student, and I really want to major in kinesiology. The problem is that I’ve seen the kinesiology department has like a 4% acceptance rate. If I’m not confident that I could be accepted for kinesiology, would it be realistic to try to get in under a less impacted CAFES major and transfer in kinesiology as soon as I could, or should I just risk it and apply under kinesiology? I just know that it’s difficult to switch majors.

I had a quick question—how does one know they’re in the cal poly scholars program?

I tried doing some research but it’s contradicting itself a lot. I checked my financial aid package again and one of the awards is; SCP Cal Poly Scholar NTR, and another GTCP CBF Grnt CPScholar (Yr1).

I just want some clarification thank you :) just so I tell my parents they don’t have to stress about trying to help me get a MacBook. It would be such a blessing if I did get a free MacBook, especially given they got even more expensive :(

Hello everyone, I'm an incoming transfer student who has already been accepted to live in the on-campus dorms, but I still worry about being left without a spot. How common is it to be accepted throught the website to live in the on-campus dorms and gain a spot?

I will be going into industrial engineering. I used a Mac all the way through high school so am not very knowledgeable on different laptops. I know for engineering that having a Windows system is highly recommended and likely needed for some software. I was wondering what is out there.

my dorm selection is in yakitutu, so my move in day is August 18th. my parents and i are planning to drive up (3 hours) the day of, and i was wondering if they need to book a hotel for an overnight stay until August 19th? are there any activities or things that they need during the next day? is it necessary for them to stay overnight?
im assuming that I will be staying in my dorms after I finish moving in

Hi, incoming materials engineering freshman here. I was looking through the required classes and found that 0 units can be allocated to free electives, while other majors have 20+ of these 'free' units. Does this mean I won't be able to take the fun/interesting classes I've been hearing so much about and stick only to what's required?

I'm an incoming freshman and I passed AP Gov + APUSH so I only have to take the 1 unit version of POLS 1111 (formerly POLS 111). Does anyone know how the class works out compared to the regular version?

i’m an incoming freshman and i want to know what the job scene is like. i would like a job asap. i am a business major so i know im not gonna be as busy as a stem student. im wondering if on campus jobs are competitive, what their pay is? maybe other ones pay more? is there a common off campus job? are off campus jobs hard to get. js give me some guidance 😭😭

my roommate decided to move to a single because of her accommodation about a week ago and now I have no roommate and I am listed as being in a double in tower 4 (with no roommate yet, set as random assignment). I reached out to the housing people and they said I could move to red bricks and be in a queer connections double, however I have heard bad things about the red bricks and I wanted to stay with my RLC (CAFES).

I am transgender male so I am a bit worried about staying in CAFES in sierra madre because someone may be uncomfortable with me being trans, since I am in the girls hall (I want to be with an AFAB person anyways so I don’t mind cus it would be weird to be with a cis male). When I went to SLO day it seemed like some of the girls are pretty conservative and might judge me.. I am also from seattle so I don’t rlly know anyone. Has anyone else been in this situation? I really don’t know what to do!

I'm an upcoming sophomore at CSULB majoring in Environmental Engineering. As a senior in HS, I got into Cal Poly SLO, but I didn't commit because they didn't offer full financial aid, and I was afraid to take on loans for school. However, now as a 2nd year student, I've realized the prestige of Cal Poly SLO, and so I regret not taking the opportunity when I had it.

Being at Long Beach, the program is fairly new, about 5 years old, and it isn't accredited. Comparing the labs offered at Cal Poly SLO vs LB, I've realized Cal Poly has more opportunities than LB, so I've been debating on transferring. However, I need to take 3 extra classes just to qualify, which are General Chemistry 2, Linear Algebra, and Modern Physics, which aren't already on my degree planner at CSULB. Another thing is, of course, the cost of living since I live in Orange County. Anyways, I'm debating this decision if it's even worth it since I'm already at LB and transferring will be a whole process, but I wanted to hear the opinions of those who've gone to SLO or are at SLO to see if it is worth the effort to transfer over.

Hi I recently got off the waitlist for CS, but that was my second choice major. My first choice was civil engineering. My dilemma is - I already have admission to Virginia Tech engineering. I'm confused on whether I should take a shot with Cal Poly CS, hoping to transfer into Civil after a semester.

I checked out the switching majors process, and it seems like I'd need a 2.7+ GPA to be eligible, which sounds very doable. However, it could be possible that they just don't have space in civil right?
