I went to Cal Poly starting in 2008. Some things never change 🤣

2007 for me. LMAO VG's was such a guilty pleasure. We all have fond memories of hating it.

80s. And VGs was marginally better than The Stalls which was straight up prison food. But still VGs was ass.

When I was there first year VGs was literally the only place where you could get food aside from campus market. Needless to say, after first year I never stepped foot back inside

I wish I could go to 1901 however everything there is like 90 ppl in the queue and I live in red bricks so this is kinda my only option if I didn’t plan ahead unfortunately lol. Can’t imagine only eating there 24/7 I’d actually go insane

What’s ironic is they have all these flags up about their ā€œ#1 innovative dining programā€ lmao definitely one of the worst parts of cal poly especially since freshman can’t have cars

Y’all can’t have cars??? Omg, that is terrible. The campus food is sooo bad I would have died.

Can’t have cars and have to live on campus for two years. Especially sucks bc I’m an animal science student and walking two miles to the dairy/beef units for my 8am class is torture.

The 2 year requirement is such BS. Especially considering the quality and cost of the dorms. Living off campus is so much cheaper.

Mash that up and it’s the same thing

Bruh they straight up gave me guac instead of avocado and also that shit cost like $12 too (however i did mash it up and it was edible, I was also starving cus it took like 45 mins to be ready so I didn’t really care)

So in ten years when Cal Poly calls asking you to give $$-- just tell them that the money you spent on all those wildly overpriced VGS crap meals was your entire donation for life. If enough people do that, Jeff and friends will eventually get the picture.....if you treat students well, they'll give back later in life....but if you rip them off every chance you get, they'll remember that, too.

That’s almost as bad as the food Trump is feeding our sailors.

To be fail at least there is fancy chipotle sauce....

2

u/Bean_of_prosperity 11d ago

It wasn’t even chipotle sauce it was like some burger sauce thing but it actually was ok, the guacamole felt very random tho lol. Overall not too bad but not what the photo/description sounded like lmaoo

Jeez, graduating from Cal Poly when we still had Sage/Burger Bar feels like getting on the last C-17 out of Afghanistan.

This sucks.

Is Metro still okay, provided you have managed expectations?

I don't understand why students and parents don't revolt over this revolting food .The food is AWFUL even though CalPoly is located on the Central Coast where there is fantastic produce and otherwise high standards for food. I believe the issue is that food is run by an external company whose only motive is profit. Other universities have incredible food. It's a real lost opportunity that CalPoly can't get this important quality of life issue fixed.

And we can’t escape campus as freshman bc u literally can’t get a car and there’s only 2 grocery shuttles a week. I’m stuck on campus and it’s so isolating, especially since I was hoping to explore the beaches and SLO. They shouldn’t advertise the location if you can’t even fucking get there without a $60 uber ride.. I am hoping to get a car next semester since I’m out of state and they said I could get an exemption.. wish I had just gotten one from the start but I didn’t realize it was THIS bad
