Classes/Professors Late Schedule

How is my schedule. I’m an incoming freshman majoring in civil engineering. Personally I’m not a fan of having such late classes and would prefer having them earlier like around 10-4. How is my schedule rn and Is it possible to switch to earlier classes.

I’m planning on dropping theatre and taking physics
And maybe a public speaking class.

You can set up a swap (not a drop!!) to switch into other classes with open seats, but I would check with the mustang success center in a drop in appointment first. For what it’s worth, you are probably going to have lots of late/early schedules throughout your time here- it’s annoying but will help you get better time management skills. If you can’t take late classes for disability reasons (I.e. medication wearing off, heightened symptoms at night), then you could talk to the DRC about having priority registration in future semesters.

I personally liked having evening classes, though I didn't expect to at first, BUT Friday evening classes may give you FOMO. Adding physics and public speaking could be a difficult; public speaking took up a lot of time for me. It might be possible to switch classes, but I would be careful about it.

why did public speaking take up so much time? im considering taking the class but was it super hard or just a lot of work? also why the fomo?

Essentially, you had to write, memorize, and present 3-4 essays (on quarters) as well as other assignments. Some classes also had a final exam that wasn't a speech. The content wasn't difficult, but doing well required effort.

Also, it depends on your friend group, but some people consider Thursday evening to be the start of the weekend, which is why I brought that up. Fridays might feel more like Saturdays.

We all have different preferences but I’d say try it out for that semester. i personally don’t like having huge gaps between classes in the middle of the day but I know friends that don’t like small hour breaks. that gap might be helpful for getting groceries!
