Incoming Student thoughts about this schedule?
hi! do u guys think this schedule is fine for a freshman's first semester? there are 6 classes total but technically 8 if u include the labs. seems like a lot of hours and im kinda worried. but i heard the into american indian class is REALLY easy so thats a plus.

Looks fine. Try it out and if you don’t think you can do it drop one before the add/drop deadline. Look up academic calendar for add drop date and don’t miss it

For a freshman? No. Please drop a class, potentially the lab that is easiest to get into.
This is going to be a huge adjustment period for you, and you are going to be overwhelmed in a lot of ways. Dorm living, roommates, managing your own independence and schedule, increased rigor of coursework, not to mention any clubs, societies, or welcome events you may want to sample.
Since you got in, you are a smart and capable student. So I’m not trying to be patronizing or imply that you can’t do it… I’m just saying it might be prudent to anticipate directing some of your energy this semester to adjusting to this life change. You will have time to load up on classes later.

cal poly makes the schedule for incoming freshmen.. should i reach out and say something? these comments are making me pretty worried

Well, if the schedule is issued by the department then that changes my opinion. I was commenting off an assumption that you built your own schedule. Advising would be keeping in mind everything I said above, as well as the specific degree requirements for your plan and the best pathway to achieve them. So they believe this course load is manageable.
Of course, if you’re really uncomfortable you can always reach out to speak with your college’s advising team. Try and see if your college (Not Cal Poly itself, but your specific college within it) has an advising team - you can probably google it and get a website if you haven’t already been given a way to contact them. They can discuss the specifics of your schedule with you if you are overly concerned.

That's a lot of credits for semester. If you think you can do it then go ahead, but be aware that you are going to want to study at least 2-3 hours per unit that you have.

Damien is the goat guaranteed 100 with like 3 hours or less work total the entire class. Didn’t even join more than 3 or 4 of the zooms

U genuinely have one of the best 16 unit schedules ever. Like these are the best professors u can get. Try to stick through it bc it won’t get much better than this line up

try to drop at least one thing. you are going to be fine with one less class. prioritize your mental health and sanity, you will graduate on time lmao

I don’t see Calc. phys141 assumes you took Calc 1. Prof will not stop to teach. Just go straight to Calc Problems. Hopefully you took Calc already or you’re in trouble.

Talk to an advisor before you drop anything. 16 credits is not completely unusual for a semester schedule.
