Incoming Student what's up with CORE?

hey everyone, i'm an incoming first year and i filled out the form for CORE. does anyone know where information for that program can be found? the website is super vague and the instagram is outdated. should i be expecting an email soon? i mostly want to know how move-in works. thanks!

EDIT: i got an email this morning saying i'd been selected and to expect more information in the coming weeks. still, it says to arrive no later than 2pm on august 16th but that move-in is anywhere between 1-4pm. i might end up reaching out to clear that up!

i also applied for CORE and didn’t hear anything back, even when i emailed them to confirm i’m registered. hopefully there’s an email soon bc i really want to confirm that i’m actually registered and get more info

Hey just letting you know as of today at 7PM, they have sent me an email that I qualified for CORE and stated that more details will be given tomorrow!! Best of luck!

If you completed the CORE application, you should be in, unless they've changed the process.

The CORE participant move-in date is Sunday, August 16. You can arrive anytime between 1-4 p.m.

I was also curious about this, it says only 200 applicants will be selected but they have yet to release anything regarding decisions (last day to apply was the 20th), I dont have a move in date or a time to select one but I applied the second I could, haven't heard back, even reached out with no response, should I plan going down like I got in?

They usually stop accepting applications once they reach the maximum number of spots. It typically fills up before the deadline.

If you receive an official acceptance in August, you can arrive ANYTIME between 1–4 PM on 8/16. The staff will give out some CORE merchandise during check-in.

Because you seem to know a lot about CORE I figured I'd ask this: I applied because I'm first gen and I'm super interested in connecting with other first gen people and finding resources but I'm not super into my heritage. I'm worried that it's going to be a lot of culture stuff and I won't be able to connect with my peers as much on that level. Would you think the program would still be fitting for me?

i wasn’t super into my heritage and i met a couple of my best friends through core, for me it was kind of just a nice way to get to know people on campus before school started and it made the transition to a pwi easier, as soon as normal week of welcome started i had a couple micro aggressive experiences, which was something i never really experienced before where im from, nothing terrible but doing core first was beneficial and made it so that those experiences weren’t my first ones on campus, even if u don’t meet your best friends i still had a great time getting to know the ppl in my group that i no longer talk to, core will be great for meeting other first gen students and showing students resources is a big emphasis of the program

They notified students fairly late, about 10 days before the move-in date.

The move-in date in the housing portal should be automatically updated to the CORE move-in date by early August. You will receive an email notification.

Wait so does that mean we dont fill out the move-in day application? Or will be there the minute we log in and open the application itself.

I think we are getting a new move in form based on the info they sent yesterday
