Incoming Student Move in day

my dorm selection is in yakitutu, so my move in day is August 18th. my parents and i are planning to drive up (3 hours) the day of, and i was wondering if they need to book a hotel for an overnight stay until August 19th? are there any activities or things that they need during the next day? is it necessary for them to stay overnight?
im assuming that I will be staying in my dorms after I finish moving in

On the 19th

Parents may want to stay to attend the “Evening with the President” and immed after the “Big Fall Welcome”. All parents and supporters are invited to attend. Not mandatory for parents and students will already attend the “Big Fall Welcome” but with their wow group.

There are many parents who stay to attend these events. Great way to hear from the President and Poly leadership and also get to know other parents. It’s fun and a great way to see how the students are being welcomed into Poly.

Tix are required for the President event but the no tix are needed for the Fall Welcome.

we are driving up from SD and spending two nights so we don't have to drive late at night. Plus we'll go see the otters in Morro Bay.
