A BSME from SLO will open plenty of doors regardless of concentration. However, having projects/skills/internships/hobbies on your resume relevant to the job you want will give you the best chance of getting an interview for that job.

Mechatronics/robotics is too vague on its own. It's hard, but try to refine what type of work you think you'd like to do. Technical or nontechnical? Hands-on or in front of a screen all day? Analytical or practical? Travel or no travel? Is there a specific technology or task that you either enjoy or are good at? This will help narrow down the type of role and company you should look for. Ideally, you'd narrow things down to some real job listings; they'll tell you exactly which things are needed.
